  1. He came up and stuck his head out of the water first. Initially I just thought, just a turtle. Then remembered I ain't in Darwin anymore! And this bugger is twice the size of any others I'd seen. That is when I went for the phone. He came back and circled underneath the boat for a while so I got those pics.
  2. Had a visitor only two hours ago to the boat. Big bugger, close to 2 m long.
  3. Whiting mostly from the boat. I just thought the other day when cruising past the flats it would be pretty relaxing on a nice day to pump for some. If you come back over message me, I can take you for a fish.
  4. Don't worry, I eat the cockles. Got plenty of tommies and STs for bait. I just want to try some nippers. I'll go on a bit of a search for a month and let you know.
  5. Its too late. Bought myself a bait pump prior to asking this question . Squid have been fairly scarce in the bays of late. Few off Farm Beach but couldn't be bothered launching on the weed that is there at the moment. As i am having a break from work for a while and living locally I have a lot of time on my hands so might chuck the pump in the boat and hit some of the sand banks around Coffins. First spot I'll try is along Long Beach. Just trying to gauge my chances of success and find somewhere where they are definitely at.
  6. That is what I'm thinking as well. Whilst Inox has lube it also has solvents to strip away old stuff. I'm hoping, and it feels like it, that the tackleguard stuff has more lube. Time will tell I suppose. On the bike chain I use Tac-8 I think. It is a dry sticky grease. Just stops the chain from rusting. I run O-ring or X-ring chains so no way you can lube those anyway as the grease is applied at manufacture and kept in place by the rings - unless you dry them out of course.
  7. Agree. Inox has always done good stuff and I've used it. I'll grab some of the MX3 tomorrow to try and compare.
  8. I even use it in the pushy chain.
  9. I think BCF. I'm finding it pretty good. Unlike WD40 which does have some lubricant in it the solvents pretty much strip away oils. Everything is spinning nicely.
  10. No this isn't about cricket, martial arts or condoms. I've been using this stuff for 4 or so months after rinsing reels off. They get a hammering in the centre console with spray (so do I). No seized line rollers or handles which is normally the bane of my existence. Still on this little can. It is probably expensive for what it is. Anyone else using it? Sorry, sideways.
  11. I haven't paid over $500 fom memory. Low 400s, but that was 2 years ago.
  12. Got myself an overhead KGW boat rig. A gomoku Irito with a Casitas baitcaster. Not sure about the reel yet. Bit plasticy, with lots of spots for salt water to get in. I could see the rod with an old ambassedeur or millionaire. Maybe even a 200 calcutta.
  13. Consider the wilson venom spin range. I have two venoms, a 5 ft 6 inch deep jig and a 6 ft 6 inch offshore. Both 2-5 PE. Obviously the spin range is lighter. I couldn't be happier with mine. Match them with my dogfight and expedition 5500.
  14. Instead of paravanes, leaded lines or bibbed lures I use either a heavy chrome slice or a jig (300 - 500 grams) without the hooks in front of a small lure in deeper water. The jig acts like a decoy pulling in the fish.
  15. Used to catch them for live bait off outer harbour wharf years ago. Used a big crab net or home made square net with fine mesh. Lower it down so it was about 6 inches deep or so. Then lower a light (kero tilly latern for me) so it was just above the net. They would swim over the top and we would pull the net up to get them. On a single hook and straight to the bottom then reeled up about a metre off the bottom. It was the only way to get the resident mulloway living under the wharf interested. Used to get a few tommies, squid, gar and crabs as well. Always used surf rods as well with the butt
  16. Not SA. But not difficult either.
  17. Bingo Spot and direction of photo
  18. Further west than Elliston.
