  1. Just dropping a sinker over the side of a boat should be fine though yeah? I would be talking 50g max on the snapper t-curve, and maybe 30g on the 1-3 kg t-curve spin xl
  2. I've got a few t-curves. 1 rated 2-4kg and the other 3-6kg, the casting weights recommended range from 1-9g to 10-21g. Stupid question and yes I know this is a guide for flicking lures about etc, but would it be OK to use a heavier sinker on one of these rods when fishing from a boat? Seems like a stupid question, no doubt a straight forward answer.
  3. I went with 50lb FINS braid in the end as it gives me flexibility to target sharks, kingfish etc too, VERY HAPPY Looking forward to cristening her now
  4. Got it done at tackleworld on the hill tonight, very happy with the service. Cheers lads
  5. Do you mind me asking what the tescata's are worth? PM me if you need to respond without posting on forum, up to you
  6. Fair play mate, you pulled a few decent fish from that spot didn't you? GREAT STUFF!
  7. Yozuri squid jig on a metre or 2 trace below a float will catch you a few, possibly a few dozen ;)Get a few of these
  8. no need for the gaff then..........
  9. It doesn't come with a spare spool that's kinda the problem, although I could wind it back onto the actual spool it came on in the shop obviously.Might just take it to my local, they have FINS braid in bulk so should load it up perfectly....I just had a bad exp at one tackle shop, scraped the top of my spool, a scratch that went the whole way around, and was waaaaaay overfilled!
  10. Yeah, I thought that after I wrote it
  11. Even if I didn't purchase the reel from there.....?
  12. I've got a daiwa kix 4000 size reel and also a Saltist 30HA that I want to fill with 20lb braid and 30lb braid respectively. I was thinking of getting 300m of each in FINS.Any tips on filling the spool? I would assume 300m would be enough but obviously it depends on the diametre of the line. I will use some backing too to stop slippage. I don't mind wasting some braid, but want to get my line to the right capacity on the reels. What about backing? SHould it be a decent quality? Same weight? and tips on tieing knots to join to main line?Any advice would be great
  13. Thanks guys, I've used overheads before but just wondered how they cast. Thanks for the responses.Adamibinfishin, can you explain shock leaders etc to me a bit more? I'm looking at 30lb FINS braid for the main spool, is a shock leader same as I would use when bream fishing with braid to fluorocarbon just with the word "shock" inserted? Serious question though.... Uni to uni knot, then tie my rig on after the shock leader?
  14. Mine is mainly for bottom bashing as I've already got a 950ssm too for surf fishing
  15. Thats what I am waiting for a response on.I haven't actually cast or even spooled my reel yet
  16. Nice work mate, sounds like a top reel! This is the first ever reel I've purchased outside of shimano so looking forward to giving this a go - who knows, I might jump on the daiwa band wagon.Anyone else got any comments on the Saltist 30HA levelwind?
  17. Just brought my first ever Daiwa reel Chose it over the Tekota 600 as it felt alot smoother and I liked the overall feel of it - Daiwa Saltist Levelwind 30HAAnyone got one? You like? Any good for casting with the levelwind? Now need to decide what to spool it with. I'm thinking 25-30lb FINS braid for bottom bashing, targetting snapper, gummy sharks, even GT's, mulloway, etc from the boat.Any tips would be great. I would assume I'll need alot of line as the capacity is :14/490, 20/295, 25/230Any advice would be great
  18. Had a quick look tonight at my local tackle shop, I played with the tekota 600 and the saltist 20ha levelwind, I def preferred the feeling of the saltist and the handle seems to move alot smoother.... anyone got a saltist?
  19. Cheers guys, might check out the charter special
  20. They have pretty huge line capacities on them. You are right they would be overkill on the snapper, but I would assume they are on the right target for gummys, mullies, kingies etc.Anyway, just getting a feel as to which reel is recommended in that kinda $200 price range for an overhead....alternatively I stick with my Abu 6000
  21. I've got a penn sports, want to get a better overhead, I've got an older abu 6000 reel, but want something a bit tougher, smoother etc to target bigger snapper, and be able to handle mullies, gummies etc from the boat.Thinking tekota 600, TLD 20, or possibly even saltist 20H?Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated. I guess it would be spooled with 30lb braid for a guess.....Ta
