Had an hour up my Sleeve this morning... Went down old Noarlunga for a bream session on baits as i havent had a bait session for awhile. In 30 minutes got 4 bream biggest going 40cm, smallest going just under 28cm. Christened the Daiwa Heartland and Daiwa Calida 2000 that have been sitting there not getting used. I loved the Sound of the drag Screaming from the Caldia. Bait of choice was white bait and the rig was a simple rolling swivel to 4lb leader with two Size 2 Daichii Hooks snelled. So if your after a bit of fun head down the onk and give it a try.. theres plenty around

Caught mine off glenelg jetty with live tube worms during colder months. Was there between 8pm and 2am, high tide. Try at 3/4 jetty and throw right (don't have to throw very far), paternoster rig and wait. good luck

Catching: While "working" in Ceduna last year I had a few good sessions on the local jetties catching squid but the best came after watching a local and having a chat. He was rubbing the ink off the jetty onto his jig after catching a squid before he would throw it back in. I asked why and he said the squid were attracted to it better. The best tip he gave though was when you catch one throw back into the ink cloud asap as there will be other squid investigating what happened. This proved to be spot on as I did this time and time again always getting 3-4 squid from the one ink spot. Cleaning: In the picture you will see a letter opener. This is always in my tackle box for cleaning squid as the blunt blade is ideal for starting an opening in the skin so you can get your thumb in. Also the small nail in the timber handle is to hold the tail of the tube so you can turn inside out by just pushing down. Cooking: The day before you want to cook squid put it in a diluted solution of bicarb and water and leave in the fridge over night. Insure you wash well before cooking but it will always be tender. I was given this tip by a chief and see others on this forum adopt it with success as well.

My best catches of landbased gar and tommies have been overnight off the jetties. Same with snook.Porties is good for salmon after a storm. Dirty water also brings the KGW and flatties on the bite and within reach of landbased jetty anglers. I have caught a few KGW right off the end of Brighton after a blow. I have also heard of a few snapper caught after a storm off there as well But be prepared to fish between 8pm and 4am
