  1. went out with a small operator on a oldish boat but was spacious and had twin outboards gear was old and shotty trolling skirts were terrible didnt get anything on the troll went reef fishing with handlines and caught heaps of little reef fish on prawns but that was it cost me 160 australian for four hours was terrible make sure u use one of the bigger operators and make sure u have people to go on it with or book well before so they can get u on the boat with another group i made the mistake of just rocking up expecting my group of friends would be interested but they werent and couldnt get on any free spots on larger operators. Jigging and popping and trolling is the way to go in bali if u want to get onto big fish and lots of them but u will have to go with a larger operator. ENA SPORT FISHING is apparently good also ADHEK Check this website out http://www.mybaliguide.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=viewnews&id=780Remember its usually a minimum of four people and will cost upwards of 500 usd for a half day right through to over 1000 for a full day the more people u have on the boat u get to split costs includes lunch transfers and drinks fishing gear isnt always provided sometimes they make u hire it for 50 usd for the day and any jig or line lost or damamge to gear they will charge you.

  3. Last summer i caught one a bit larger than that off grange jetty estimating it at a wing span of 190 to 200 cms took 5 blokes to lift with a drop gaf but never managed to get it over the rail and it fell off the gaf and my 80lb trace snapped due to getting caught on the rope. when i was looking over the rail at it the head on this thing was so wide and deep and the wings were covering half the end of the jetty if not more i was soo shocked that i managed to get this thing in it took and hour and 20 mins to pull in on 50 lb braid. It had multiple runs the first being over 300 meters and short 100 and 50 meter bursts through out the fight until finally it retired at the end of the jetty flapping around. I was using a penn spinfisher 950 with about 450 m of 50lb braid on a 7ft cheapie 12 kilo pelagic ebay rod i tell u what it did its job without any problem what so ever. Spewwing i was un able to get a photo and land this thing on the jetty as it was the largest eaglie i have ever seen. When the line snapped i laid on the jetty for a good 15 mins catching my breath and uncramping my arms till finally i just let out a loud fudgeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  4. Its definitely a jade perch as kelvin said it is used in aquaponics and is also a species that can be kept in aquaria somehow it has made its way into this waterway and been living and feeding eventually it would die and as it is more than likely the only one or one of a few in the system it wouldnt be able to sustain a population due to the conditions in south australia not being favourable for reproduction.

  5. For seven gills and bronzies this is not a good idea at all the only way you would be able to keep these kinds of fish u would be looking at a rough guesstimate of a price of around 70 thou which in other words means u need a large pool with a complex filtration system or a small scale sydney aquarium. Not to mention the space needed as well as the price of upkeep and time it will take up. The only shark species i see u succesfully keeping in an aquarium of any sort of size stature are sharks like epaulettes and cat sharks and smaller species of carpet sharks and then again u would need to spend probably 10 thousand plus to be able to keep these fish happy. Its not as simple as u may think.

  6. Grange jetty fish the last light pole before the shelter and cast paralell with the beach. I usually fish from 9 at night onwards sometimes later regardless of the tides using frozen tommies, freshly caught sprat tommies, baby squid, squid flaps, squid heads anything fishy or squiddy really that i can get my hands on but ive caught most of mine on whole and half tommies. You have to be prepared to pull in many dog sharks aswell and sea lice can get annoying sometimes but they arent always arounf, when crabs are about be sure to use squid heads or squid flaps heaped on a hook. I use two 9/0 circle hooks or two snelled 6/0 red hooks depending on bait size on a running rig. A ball sinker or barrel sinker or an ezy rig slider with about a meter of 80lb mono trace and a hefty swivel. I use a penn 950ss spinfisher with about 400 meters if not more of 50 lb braid on a 12 kilo 7ft rod. I always have my drag completely loose so the ray can take off easy. The other week i caught an eagle ray which had a wing span of 6 feet it took me two hours to pull in and had another 2 screaming runs when i thought it was done. Every session ive done at grange ive seen one or more rays mostly eaglies and the odd smoothie depending on how much berley is in the water due to crabbers etc. Ive had multiple runs and hook up in all but one session and i have caught a ray every session but 3 of them. many bust offs and near spoolings when i was using lighter gear. Hope this helps it would probably apply for any metro jetty but ive found grange to be the best producer.
