Blue Morwong & Nannygai

With the popularity of deep water reef fishing these days, thought i'd start a thread with a couple of species i like catching and more like eating!I've never really caught either species in the super XOS size though.

i have a mate that goes cray fishing down marion/pondalowie bay and also fishes there and tells me how good the nanny's and b. mory's are and how regular they get themhe tells me how nice they are and promised to take me and cook them up so when i get the chance i will post pics and give them a rating cant wait to go havent fished the bottom end in a boat before.

Yeah definitely try them out. Theyre fairly easy to catch if you have access to a boat with a decent sounder and plotter.In my opinion there's no better eating fish than nannygai with blue morwong a close second.

Two great fish of our reefs, most of my offshore stuff is off coffins or sceale bay. Caught heaps of nannys with the best ones in the 2.5 - 3kg bracket and my best mowies are around the 3kg mark, but as you know the hooks pull on them pretty easy and i reckon i've lost bigger ones.....doh!

7.1 kg aboard whynot last july ended up with 3 for the trip a 7 a 5 n let the last one go which was around 3 and my vary first one which i got at scales wit whyalla brand of a mere 1.656 kg lol
