Hey guys im looking at getting a baitrunner/reel to mount on the surf rod for $100.00 and under. What would you recommend?Im thinking Shimano st4000fa; daiwa regal bri 4500; penn live liner or forget the baitrunner and go with something like a sienna?Any thoughts?

okuma avenger abf-90 got mine for 70bux with a spare spool 7 ball bearings, 10kg max drag, 4.5:1 gear ratio, aluminum handle and spool. awesome surf reel with huge spool capacity running 65lb braid 400m of it and 30lb braid 700m of it. most people will knock the okuma reels but I'll land some monsters with it this summer, no doubts.

Pretty hard to go past the old Shimano Baitrunners......tried and proven.

Yeah try to stretch your budget a bit and invest in the old shimano baitrunners. Ive had the Okuma Salina Baitrunner in the past and it was junk although the lifetime warranty did come in handy after the stem broke while fighting a fish, and when the baitrunner function failed to engage/disengage numerous times while out in the field.

Save ya dosh & get a shimano thunnus baitrunner, bit priceey but well worth it in the long run
