Ray Brown's "Dry Flies of the Fleurieu Peninsula" is on ebay

Recommended Posts

Hi again,I seem to have trouble finishing sentences these days! Too many days spent in the sun fly-fishing! What the above first sentence should have said is: "You may be interested to know that Ray Brown's "Dry Flies of the Fleurieu Peninsula' is currently for sale on ebay". But if you are interested, and have deep pockets, you had better hurry, as there is already one offer on the table.Cheers,Australasica

Hi TR,It's probably the best price for a modern Australian fishing book (but a few other copies of Ray Brown's book have gone in the low three thousands). But I did see that an Aussie fishing book from the mid 19th century was sold at a UK auction for over $100,000. Probably in another 50 years so will Brown's book. I couldn't wait that long!Cheers,A.

A very close relative just passed me a bunch of fly fishing books... One of which is this said book! Individual feathers glued to the pages, typed on a type writer and a photograph as the photo not a printed picture! I have number 22 of 30 of the signed hard covers... God only knows who has one of the 5 only leather bound books. This book isn't forsale... I just didn't realise the significance to the fly fishing community as such a sought after book.Tight loops people!

thats amazing. A book that could only sell 30 copies when it was first published (indicating not popular) now sells for over $3' date='000.[/quote']Funny comment. Ray chose to only make the amount of copies that he did. It has nothing to do with how many were sold. The individual effort put into each and every book is the reason there were never more made.It is actually one of the most sought after modern fly fishing books of its kind. from my cold dead hands.
