archerfish 685
Dr Ben Diggles has recently put up a rather interesting article on the "Fishing World" website regarding "bumps" on snapper:http://www.fishingworld.com.au/news/fish-facts-snapper-bumps-and-other-mysteriesCheersaf piratepom, 4THALOVE and trihull
ScaleyTom 19
Very interesting. I never for once believed it was due to smashing against reefs, crabs or shellfish. Some of the biggest snapper i've caught have had smooth heads. 4THALOVE
wishing2Bfishing 0
thats interesting, when i sit back and think about it i have seen some snapper that come from NSW and QLD that would only be 4-7kg with huge weird bumps on their head and lipsi havent seen any from SA with this amount of growth, has anyone? 4THALOVE
wishing2Bfishing 0
i reckon those ones in my post above look bloody horrible, i would be spewing if i pulled up a 6kg snapper and it looked like that!
Poppa Snake 1,399
Saw a New Zealand scientician on a TV program that said he believes its similar to why humans have different shapes & bumps on our noses and ears. Genes and specie abnomalies. 4THALOVE

wishing2Bfishing 0
that would have been one ugly snapper hey 4THA? my biggest is my avatar pic, 11.5kg, that was more of a long fish, it had a big head but not a massive, ugly bump. maybe i need to catch a bigger fish and see a big bump first hand. 4THALOVE

wishing2Bfishing 0
yea mine had a whole cuttlefish in its guts with just one bite mark in it. going a bit off topic but i always check my snappers guts, i havent personally found anything too weird but heard of some weird things, Rocknev reckons his biggest from the rocks had a pufferfish in it!once i was using cubed pillies as burley and one of my fish had basically the whole block in its guts, im surprised it took my bait, it was the fullest snapper i have caught! 4THALOVE
