I haven't tried them for salmon, it's hard to go past metal lures off the beach, they cast the best and catch fish.I have used bucktail jigs extensively in other areas of fishing, especially back in the US where they are very popular. They are very versatile and can be fished in many ways, similar to an sp but obviously more durable and with less action. A bucktail with an sp slipped over the hook is a deadly combination.Down here in SA bucktails can be used for everything from bream and flathead through to snapper and mulloway and even all the way up to tuna, sampsons and kingfish. And as we all know, most of the time salmon will eat anything, so yes they would work well on them too!
