wilda 422
G'day All, I'm off to North Queensland leaving in the last week of march till the 7th of April. Just wondering if anyone has some information on lb spots of recent, have found plenty but seems to be a few years old. I have read a fair bit about the local jetty but fishes best on clear water so my timing will be out a bit going on the seasons I have booked 2 sole day charters around the best tides with blackout charters to try and get on to some good fish. Just trying to gather a much information on spots, rigs and bait to fill in some time. Movement won't be a issue as we will have a hire car but only 2x4 Cheers Wilda
dutchy 451
I went on blackout charter didn't catch much, but had fun. Take you own reel as I didn't like counting the joins in the line to see how deep lol I would take a pack of small hooks 2/0 etc for live bait. Something big would destroy me every time I hooked a bait fish but using BIG old J hooks hard to hook pickers. Wanted to skull drag a bait fish up and slowly lower it down to have a chance on the monsters. I wish I took just a bit of gear, few rigs, jigs & lures could have been a trip to remember wilda

Kelvin 2,200
Definitely bring up some lures. Any snapper lure (soft plastic, micro jig, lucanus, inchiku etc) should work great. Also bring a few metals to throw at the tuna. Use your own gear if you can, Kerry on Blackout uses low to midrange gear. He will take some video and photos on the trip and you get a DVD after which is great. Landbased is really hard work. Most of the locals fish the start of the Marina in one of the few areas you can fish legally. Looked like Cod on deadbait with the chance of a Barra. Also saw a few bait schools being harassed along the rockwall. I suspect Queenies. Good luck
