Guest Butters
Seen on Shark fishing DVD some fellas using Wire Wind-on leaders.. The idea is that you can wind the Wire onto the reel and basically hold the reel with your palm and help keep a shark under control.. to some degree.. With the Plastic coating its supposed to save damaging your rod eyes..Any one else used one? any feed back?i'm gonna give one i made up a try next time i'm out chasing the buggers.. http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/et1Kksjv__12012009097.jpg[/img]

bobC 0
I have never use one but was interested in giving them a tryas I normaly fish alone from a boat.I have got the gear to make one up but had not got around to it.I think you realy need to use fully rollered rods with them
Brooksey_134 1
yea im with mc id only use em on bream coz they go so hard around the pylons!!lol :icon_lol:
swamp 1
sounds like a rod breaker to me. Wire from the reel to a big angry shark there isn't going to be any give. yea im with mc id only use em on bream coz they go so hard around the pylons!!lol :icon_lol:I'd like to see a bream caught on wire! i have enough trouble getting them to bite on fluoro 6 lb! Guest Butters
My thoughts aswell bobC.. fully rollered rod will be fine with the wire..
mullies_chaser 0
You should use a fully Rollered bream rod, you need that type of grunt around the barnacle encrusted pylons. Fully Rollered Bream Rod + Wire Wind on + 10/0 Size Jig head = Wicked, Fully Sick, Big Black Bream! :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

sideshow 0
My thoughts aswell bobC.. fully rollered rod will be fine with the wire..hey butters i was using a shimano backbone all roller, its fine with tha wire :Dand yea snapped rods if big shark straight down! hardley ani stretch in wire and locked up drags :'( bye bye rodsthanx lloyd
fishnfreak 0
used to use the stuff. Pre made rigs with about 25ft of wire. Now i have a better system, metre of wire, full length mono wind-on connected to a 50-turn bimini. In my opinion, it's a much better way of doing it
freddyboy 5
fishingfreak id love to see a pic of that if possable,, im only a learner so it would be good for me to see how it works thanks cheers freddyboy
sideshow 0
It's best to set ya wire length to how deep you want your bait sitting!! then ya just tie ya balloon to the clip swivel from the wind on leader!thanx lloyd ;D
shark 0
I use wire wind on leaders when I go for a big one. I helps me heaps when a shark swims under the boat and wants to cut me off. In all other situations I prefer Mono Wind On leaders especially from the DJP Tackle range. The leaders are great, Ive used them for years and are great quality. Jinkai line used which lasts me ages.
