pescados 1
Hi,I have been looking at yo-zuri line as I have had probs with tangled braid as well.I also have been informed that YGK Nitlon is better.Couple questions? Now not all reels are the same but what would be the average lenght to spool up a reel so it is aprox 3/4 to 7/8 filled upDon't want to fill it to the edge, more trouble. :)Secondly: would it be better to say fill spool up with nylon half wayand the fill the rest with Nitlon ?? seen a mention of 125 m nitlon spool.all comments much appreciated.Thanks. MarsOne 137
I think the best bet is to take it to a fishing shop with a line machine... it'll be done so much better than at home.I just picked up a new reel that said on the box it'd hold 250 metres of 20 pound mono.... The bloke at the fishing store got 450 metres of 20 pound braid onto it for me. He probably put a bit too much on... But I'll take some off.
nicol 0
yeh my penn spinfisher 850ssm said it could hold 300 feet of 20lb mono. i ended up with 385m of 20lb mono with spare room still.always get more line than what it says it can take cause the last thing ya want is a half spooled reel! Shark_Fisho 1
dont always go by the pound the reel holds because they probaly go by thick stuff always go by the thickness .29 etc
Cal 480
Pescados, just check with those in the know that Nitlon isnt just a leader flurocarbon. If it is could be pretty stiff for a main line.Cheers
pescados 1
Thanks Cal, I did ask finatic and he gave me some info but did not mention what you said.Basicly what I am looking at is:Some fischies cut a meter of line of now and again to cut out weak part.Others take the line of the reel and reverse it.I know one guy who put duct tape on his reel and only put on the required amount of line, so when he has a bustof/birdnest etc , he does not need to replace as much line.It does makes sense to me.On one of mine I have some havier line to start and then fill up with the line I need.Couple guys mentioned that one might get more line on reel than stated, In my street there are 17 houses, frontage is aprox 20 yards which works out at 340 yards. There is NO way Known that I would be able to cast from one end of street to the other end , probably like casting from one side of river to the other ;DSo Im only need enough line of my choice to cast the distance I am capable of and casting into the wind ain't very far :icon_e_biggrin:With cheap line no probs but the dearer stuf one would not want to replace every 5 min.ykmv.
