  1. Haha can't believe it, there literally is no pleasing some people...Must be after a personal guide out to the spot with instruction on how to hook them! How long till strike 3...
  2. The shimano ET special 2-4kg 7ft rods are the ducks nuts if you're not looking at spending much. I'm saving up for a tcurve but keep finding other stuff to buy but this rod has not failed me yet!Could not rate it any higher, think i paid $60 (but someone has mentioned $50 at the moment) and have landed on top of a HEAP of other fish 5 snapper that were all around the 9kg mark! I think 7 times the rod was in an almost upright rod holder in the boat and bent over far enough to almost touch the water and somehow hasn't snapped....Nice and light so you can cast all day and has put up with what i c
  3. My absolute "go to" rod and reel combo is a 2500 stradic ci4 spooled with 8lb sunline braid paired with a 7ft shimano 2-4kg graphite rod. I never leave home without it has caught everything up to 9kg snapper so it's a very versatile combo.
  4. hopefully i can make it but i'm on some pretty good painkillers at the moment so not really all there
  5. I love fishing in the rain. Worst i've done was in the middle of winter in my mates tinny all in wetsuits in rain so heavy you couldn't see anything... but the whiting were still biting!!!
  6. There are quite a few spots out there but people keep them tight. I've put a fair amount of dive time in sketchy conditions to find the spots i've got. Head south or bottom of yorkes! If you poke around on google you will come up with general areas, if not then pick a spot and start hunting! It can take hours before you'll come across even undersized ones. I've found the further you go from town the bigger they getGood luck
  7. I found mine at a newsagent in town
  8. Just finished reading the new mag, bloody good read! Had to hunt around 4 different shops today but found it in the end!
  9. Thats a bloody great looking cover! Very keen to hunt this down... Will be looking everywhere tomorrow! Was just telling the missus i was dying to read a new mag!

  14. I saw two kids in there once in an inflatable boat, haha was hilarious! Be bloody good fun in a yak!
  15. I fish on the southern side, tried the northern side with not much success. Normally there is udl cans, line, empty boxes of shapes, butts etc. I've just learnt to bring garbage bags with me where ever i go to clean up Hopefully people will eventually get the message and keep australia beautiful!
  16. There are some good sized reddies in that spot, have cut the bush bash in down to just over 10 mins with my mate. Quite a few people fish the spot, I pick up quite a large amount of rubbish whenever i go there.Cheers for the video
  17. Being a fulltime student when i do get my mitts on money I try and find the best bargains i can for the gear required to make my money stretch. I buy ALL of my gear in adelaide but I prefer to check out everything about a product on the net first before i look for prices (eg. reel specs, peoples opinions on forums, potential problems etc.). When i'm sure on the product I hunt around for it but there's an adelaide store that has a bloody good online list of their products so thats where the bulk of my purchases come from. I have ordered stuff from them online but i prefer to take the trip down
  18. I generally use a rod length as it saves me having to retie the leader when i get snagged. Tend to get through a few lure loses before retying a whole new leader on.
  19. Wow that is a big collection of gear!!!!
  20. i reckon i might hold out on the nitro rod..... just saw the price tag.... not keen on spending $450I've got a few of those telescopic rods but not a huge fan of them, although they are the only rods i use when i fish in the torrens :)Might go check out the tcurves soon, I need at least 2 of them already If only i had more fun tickets!Cheers for the responses lads
  21. Lads and ladies,I'm on the market for a 7ft 2-4kg rod (give or take a few inches) that breaks down to something that will fit into a very small tube to put in a backpack/suitcase etc.I suppose an overall length of 50cm when broken down would be ideal. I've only managed to find one which is close to what i want but I've never used the brand before so unsure of quality...i think they are called nitro tournament rods? There is one they make which is 6'6" 2-4kg (6 piece breaks down to 420mm) and another which is 7'6" 4-6kg (5 piece breaks down to 585mm)Anyone know anything about these rods or any
  22. Woah! Thats way overpriced!!!! I only paid $9.95... I wasn't a big fan though. I don't know how it's an almanac though... doesn't have tide times or solar/lunar times..I'd just define this as a really basic fishing book with marks in it. I found it odd he constantly refered to himself throughout the book as greg james, sometimes several times per page.I checked out his website too and was quite surprised to see in a description of flathead he states they are related to the australian platypus.....Still a good book for basic info though
  23. I mix them in with pillies, cockles, squid and other assorted scraps along with tuna oil, bread and berley pellets. Works a treat considering you catch them they bulk up a berley quite nicely for the cost of a tin of corn! And great crab bait too!Amazing fertilizer for the garden if you bury them Nice and deep though so the neighbourhood cats don't come dig them up!
