  1. I think the Daiwa Vadel should be considered also.
  2. I had a play with one and I still prefer my FG Rarenium Ci4+'s value wise....plenty of sellers selling them at sub $180 now also. I totally agree with the fishing too hard statement on the smaller reels....the advertised drag specs are often rather dubious at best.....a drag rating should be what the reel can sustain over time not what its best capacity is over a couple minutes. Classic example is my FG Rarenium 4000...11kg drag lol yet my 2012 Catalina 4000H is rated at 10kg
  3. Love his reviews they are so honest. I bought my 4000H Catalina on the back of his review and I'm glad I did.
  4. Great minds think alike...I have similar setups on my tinny. Lightweight, don't mark stuff on boat if dropped etc and cheap/effective.
  5. I think Ill team mine up with a Diawa Aird 1000 they are on sale now also. They seem that bit better equipped than the Symetre.
  6. I just got the last one from Main North Rod Blair Athol area they have a Snapper one left he will do for $39 also.....the system has been fixed now though but he said he will still honour it. The one I got was the same as above 7ft 2" 1-4kg Bream and it scanned up at full sale price but he obviously marked it down more.....it was a system error now fixed.
  7. Howdy B Crusher. Any chance I can meet up and buy a container to try out please?
  8. hope your only crossing the "t's" and not your "i's" makes it hard to see straight I have some spots out from Nth Haven I can share. Not too far from the break walls for Squid, crabs and the odd KGW to help get your kids hooked. Lol yep as straight as a dogs back leg We would really appreciate that would I require a GPS or are we talking landmarks for a rough location? I think Ill invest in a sounder/GPS shortly I don't think the first few trips will have one though. I have a hand held GPS (with marks) that you can use till you decide what you want to buy. Tha

  10. Thanks hoopsy Its my lads 13th birthday in March so I have got the boat etc all organised so that morning I can suprise wake his lazy arse up at 5AM(nah he's pretty good ) and tell him to get dressed son where going fishing.....then he will see the boat and hopefully a smile from ear to ear as he will expect its going to be land based.....he loves his fishing and has wanted me to get a boat for a while. If all goes to plan this time next year Ill have a nice 15ft+ half cab to comfortably house the whole family when heading out I have a 5 year old boy also plus the missus obviously.
  11. Cheers mate exactly the reply I was hoping for I'm confident in it all but in the same breath very open to making sure the i's and t's are crossed so to speak. Ill head down this weekend to the Outer Harbour ramp for a look at others after I do my license/course this Saturday....its held at West Adelaide F/C. Oh also where is the best place to earth my battery out for my bilge pump?
  12. Trailer has been fixed also lol...this was the day I got it home.
  13. I'm getting my license this weekend and with all the safety gear etc taken care of leaves me with my decision of where to launch her from for the first time(9.9hp 14ft tinny only 2 people max)...old pic in photo only has the 6hp on then. The trailer sits maybe 40-50mm higher than most due to its design and 15" rims.....my car is also rear wheel drive only.....just a BA Falcon sedan so not looking to get the rear tires to wet if at all if that's possible? The car has fully adjustable suspension all round I'm thinking raising the rear suspension will lower the rear of the trailer somewha
  14. I've booked into a half day course this Saturday morning so Ill have my license Monday Just need to source some 13 or 14 inch rims/tires for trailer as its a tad high to launch with current 15" rims.
  15. They are not to be treated as only cute that's for sure.....got to the end of the Outer Harbour breakwater a few years ago and as I dropped my stuff at our normal end spot I looked up and was greeted with a rather pissed off snarl and the seal hiking towards me lol....got out of there quick smart I tell ya...this thing wanted blood!
