It only looks about 7 to 8kg.... 9 kg at the most to me

That last lot of snapper we got out off Stanvac were all caught on circles... all of the fish hooked up straight off. Tight drag, chuck your rod in the rodholder and let your circle hook do it's job. It's the only way they work properly :cheer:

I'm not sure on reels but I buy my Mercury Outboard Parts in from overseas... an OEM MAP Sensor from Hong Kong is $20 and locally from the outboard dealer is $127 and that's a big difference in price

Hmmmm' date=' squid sashimi!............I'm onto it! [/quote']The body flesh was sliced in half thinly and wasn't even chewy like I expected it to be... it was very tasty and full of natural flavour without being tainted by cooking oils

I didn't cook it today... I had squid sashimi at a sushi bar today. It tasted much better raw with wasabi and soy sauce than deep fried in crumbs :cheer:

I agree, it is illegal and also don't condone it... maybe the whole topic is out of the guidelines of this forum by just talking about it if we have to sit on the fence -

But it is okay for the Govt to drop a big hunk of metal out off Wirinna and call it an historic wreck so fishos can't utilise it... what about the ships of the same class being sold overseas for scrap value.. if they are historical why were they turned into scrap. Not many people dive this "Hysterical" wreck anyway as the tide rips through there. What about the Govt polluting the Gulf with outflow from the Desal Plant etc etc... it's all very hypocrytical in my view -

If it sinks.. it's going to be turned into a reef. At least steel etc would rust out leaving an exterior of natural coral, barnacles etcShame on people using plastic stuff! that is an environmental disaster because it never breaks down  -
Yeah! my motto is "Don't get mad.. get even!" ... it keeps my blood pressure down

Would not need too put who on here mate. The word would get around anyway. All good things come too thoughs who wait. And if you do the wrong thing by someone either KARMA will get you or the person you sh@t on will. You would proberly want Karma too get you i would think. :whistle:Yeah I know what you mean.. I took a mate to a productive inshore spot but gave him the plots anyway as he is completely trustworthy (and still is) and then 2 years later into the future he took another local (who he thought was trustworthy) there to the said spot and then this bloke pinged the spot and now t

Even my VHF radio shows the co-ords on the screen... it's getting very hard to hide nowI even pinged my mate on Google Earth as a joke.... I saw a boat sitting right on where he fishes so took a screen capture.... I knew the spot anyway but it just shows that you can even ping boats just by looking at google earth
-
And the reef was supposed to encourage fish or fishing :dry:I see your point AFF
-
I'll have to check... can everyone send me their plots :P

All jokes aside.... the real spot is nothing flash and you'd be better putting more effort into the Grange Tyre Reef that is nearby. Just the same as near the Glenelg Tyre Reef all of my fishing spots nearby went belly up once the Glenelg Tyre Reef was dropped as that then became the magnet for all fish in the vicinity. On the real middle ground rock near the tyre reef all you'll get is plagued by undersize piranha snapper and lose your baits the instance you drop your baits downYou'll have more success on the Grange Tyre Reef for snapper , kgw etcPrior to the GTR yes the spot probably did c

6.5 kls out from Grange and converted to WGS84 I believe is34 54 509138 25 171Never fished it myself. Nope!.. still won't put you on the spot

Old Lowrance paper charts... has always been the best for picking up snapper arches but now with Hi Def it's old hat. Paper was getting too expensive and scarce to buy so stopped using it
-
Yes, I use my own co-ordinate plotting system to confuse everyone should my top secret data fall into enemy hands ..... I like to refer to it as the "Smegma Code"
-
There is a middle ground out there in the Gulf... it's in the middle between spot x and spot z  Those plots are nowhere near the real one You'd be better off trying to ping Rangers secret slimey spot that all the charter boats are still after :woohoo:
-
Sounds to me like it's a bit of scare tactics by a Charter Op to keep a lot of the smaller boats away ... there's white pointers everywhere and they're not scared of getting up close to the boats. I was on the Stanvac Barges the other week and a big pointer swam through and in one pass swallowed all 3 fish whole in our triple hookup .... tally for the arvo was 6 big snapper swallowed whole before we decided to give up as he would've kept on stealing them had we continued fishing.... my advice is...any boat under 6 metres should steer clear of the Stanvac Barges whilst the big sharks are cruis

You don't just need a GPS to ping... what about the good ol trusty landmarks
