  1. I like the procure range aswell - Ive got the mullet - blood worm - shrimp One thing I did find amusing about their branding was that they would put a little sticker over the original name of the scent - To make it sound more Aussie - but that sticker easily peeled off to reveal the American species that the scent was actually made from
  2. interesting - I initially thought it was very unnecessary because all the snells I tie are with hooks with eyes - but then I noticed he was using a spade tip. Tying snells on those is a bit annoying
  3. whoooops - i may have mispoken about the fines - but $330 is a very popular fine amount for on the water infringements
  4. Thanks Mate. Yeah I use the same reels in tiny lakes with little redfin in them as I do in waters where much bigger fish live. So I need reels that can give me a chance in both. P.s. if you stick the little strip of duct tape to a desk a few times it loses a lot of its stickiness. That way it will definitely pop off if another monster grabs one of your tommies
  5. Yeah its genuine insanity - being in only 4m, fish dont have far to run down, before they start heading side ways. You can hear the polite-ish exchange between the boats as the kids fish runs into another guys line - and I imagine there is an understanding between the boats, that they are fishing in very unusual circumstances. But you can imagine it wouldnt always be that polite, when the adrenaline is pumping and 2 full grown meat heads are arguing over a fish. We fished the area once - and that was enough - the potential for madness was too high. We only saw some minor flare
  6. .....and if worst came to worst - you could just strip off the braid and fish with the backing
  7. One issue I had forever when using the backing was the joiner knot poking through I used to run 120yard top shots and if you were casting 1/20th jigheads around - the likely hood of wind knots goes up dramatically unless you really watch your line control each cast. so if I’d had a really really bad day and lost a bit of Braid to wind knots. The leader knot could poke through and catch the line while casting i took way to long to come up with this duct tape solution. Smooths over the knot so you dont have to cut a session short I now do it on all my reels not ma
  8. If I’d had a shallow spool when hooked this on 6lb leaders, it could have all been over by the second run instead he ran back under a bridge so I had to jump in the water- wade through balls deep mud - swim for a bit- then pick my line of snags with my head under water and then stuff around for ages trying to get him back All that hassle could have been avoided if I’d just used a shallow spool
  9. Yeah they are spread pretty thin. We have never been stopped by fisheries out in the bay. Plenty of encounters with the water police. When we used to go bream fishing in winter the cops would safety check us nearly every weekend in the Yarra. (It was close to their home base and there were often no boats to hassle out in the bay on a windy winters day) but Fisheries are rarely seen out on the bay
  10. Yeah after re-spooling 3 reels in a row, I start getting jealous of shallow spools. But that Jealousy fades at about the same rate, as it takes for my forearm to stop aching Then the versatility, and safety net of having a couple of hundred meters, is more suited to the way I fish. They have their place - but its not at my place
  11. I imagine there are a few calls made from people legally anchored, who get jealous of all the fish the illegals are catching, aswell
  12. this isnt as crazy as it gets but it will give you an Idea of the anchoring etiquette - When the wind gets up, boats start swinging and anchors start slipping - it gets mental You only have to experience all the yelling and mayhem once, to know whether its for you or not
  13. We fish near that area and the Shenanigans that go on there are ridiculous. The fact the charter boat operators go into the park, is a very odd choice for a business to make. And the lack of anchoring etiquette that goes on in close would blow some peoples minds. Guys putting fenders out so they dont bump into the 200 other blokes anchored on top of each other. It has to be seen to be believed. But the guys legally anchored right on the edge of the park do catch more fish than guys 20 metres away. Especially as the snapper move onto the shallow reefs to feed at dusk.
  14. There “scientific method” and then there’s my method
  15. I put 200 worms in the garden to see if low denisty and a change of scene would help them fatten up - it did.
  16. That is a ripper. but if you have a horse float with a ramp to transport it there are other contenders out there
  17. Still not a viable option but it worked slightly better at depth. 8 worms instead of 3
  18. Yeah I think I’ve worked it out. I wasn’t burying it deep enough. The reason it works in the worm fam is coz the are trapped and can’t find their own level In my garden they can burrow to what ever depth they feel comfortable at. I buried the pumpkin on its own, at the same level and the worms didn’t come up to that either. They prefer to hang out about 40cms deep in the garden and the trap was set at around 20cm Ill reset and see how it goes down deep
  19. I should clarify - I often see individual reddies slurping and feeding on the surface at dusk - its the violent pack feeding I dont see so often
  20. They're an effective deterrent and often fearless, when it comes to a lake they have campaigned hard, to keep anglers out of. Kind of like a swan in mating season - there is no way they can hurt you but they just keep on coming at ya I have worked out a few strategies to repel male "Karens" but they arent PC to implement on the fairer sex
  21. Yeah I dont often see the freshwater surface activity, like in the start of the vid. I mean I've seen it - Just not that often. But the other day, I was scouting a suburban lake. (Finding no fishing signs was hard to take). But I figured I'd take a stroll anyway. I didnt know if it had anything in it other than the carp I was spotting - then the place just starts boiling in the middle of a sunny afternoon. I did have a rod in the car but the joint had a few potential local "Karens" lurking around- so I just had to walk away and leave them boiling. Something triggered a few separ
  22. Ahh yeah. A lot of old metal bath tubs get used for worm farms aswell must be something else about my set up - the lack of dirt around the pumpkin was my next concern ive got the same bit of pumpkin just buried in dirt at the moment so I’ll see how that pans out
  23. Yeah nice one Doobie - thanks for the tip
