  1. Has anyone used this particular style of mulcher to make burley with It’s the one with a spinning disk with 2 cutting blades. Looks like it would be a nightmare to clean afterwoods If there’s anyone with experience in making mulcher berley, I’d appreciate your thoughts
  2. Yeah I did a whole heap of marks for a mate who had moved to a new area - both public domain and stuff I found while looking at sonar charts. I sent him about 60 marks with the click of a button He will never know the pain of spinning those wheels - but he soon learnt the benefits of having generations of fishing hotspots in his phone It wasnt a completely selfless task - I only did it because I knew he wouldnt get off his arse and do it himself - and when I visit - I dont want to go out and float around without options
  3. Yeah you've got to want those marks bad, to go through the process - but if you look at it philosophically. You are being handed info on a platter, which you may never work out for yourself in 20 lifetimes Spinning those wheels, pales into insignificance, when you think about the blood, sweat, tears, man hours, cash, fruitless sessions and soul destroying frustration, that goes into establishing your own marks. Thinking of that made it easier for me, anyway
  4. Yeah the only way I know to import bulk marks in one hit, is to have an existing Navionics user send them to you. Otherwise - spin those wheels I
  5. Yeah not retying cost me way too many fish (and lures) - and its usually only the bigger ones that let you know something was wrong I dont doubt there are better hitches than the ones I currently use - and if my current hitches ever become an issue, its good to know there are better alternatives out there to fix any problems that arise
  6. Yeah I tried a whole heap of different hitches when I was having issues - Rizzuto, Grannies, even a thin smear of super glue etc and they all held better than standard. But when I switched my braid - I noticed it had way more grip so I went back to standard alternating hitches and didnt have a problem with them coming undone again. I do have an FG I tied a year ago on a bait caster, I use it for casting practice in the back yard, and that has lost a few standard hitches but its still hanging on after over 1000 casts. As a "hang over" from my light tackle breaming days - I usually re
  7. I do alternating hitches, as I had problems with them coming undone when doing them all on the one side. But I think the problem was not enough tension on the hitches during tightening with a slippery braid like fireline By the time I switched to alternating hitches, my braid had changed and so had my tying technique. Finding a tying technique when I could apply alot of force to tightening my hitches was the most influencial factor in them not coming undone - followed closely by using a grippy-ier braid than Fireline.
  8. Its like this but you tie a figure 8 loop on your braid and loop that around your reel handle- instead of just wrapping it around You can get your braid much tighter with a loop then you just cut the loop off to tie your hitches
  9. There is a similar method where you tie a loop in your braid - run it through the rod and clip that loop back onto the handle of your reel. The tension is supplied by your bent rod tip. Just don’t add to much tension so it snaps your tip it’s always handy to have a method that doesn’t rely on extra props. I tie them 2 different ways - one way on land that relies on a rod holder. but I have a different method that requires no extra props, that I use out in the field where there are no props
  10. edit - I should stop typing as I am not familiar with the area and maybe clouding the issue.. But my auto routing feature works from the ramp to your final destination The purple line is the route Navionics chose
  11. I'm not really qualified to answer coming from Vic and not having been there - The barrage appears to be a manned station with a human attendant - does access close at night?
  12. They have closed one of the barrages for 12 to 14 weeks in the past for maintenance (2018). im not saying that’s what’s happening now. but if no one comes up with and answer there is a barrage hot line 1300 650 950
  13. Have you noticed any deterioration over time with the time it take to sharpen knives with that unit ie do the spinning wheels wear out over time or would you have to sharpen 1000’s of times to wear it out
  14. Yeah thanks for the details - it interesting to hear others views on how to sharpen and why certain techniques are better than others. If I filleted more fish, I might take it a bit more seriously - but I do alot of catch and release. So as long as my knives can go through a couple of carp or a few snapper and still be sharp at the end - thats all I ask from my knives. I've still got my old stone - and in the back of my mind - I will get around to mastering it one day - but for now - my $6 knives will continue to get the rough treatment
  15. Crikey - the Sorby looks like a serious bit of kit - especially next to my $40 electric diamond wheel.
  16. This is sure to cause rage amongst stone lovers but I’m going to post any way the Jarvis Walker deluxe knife sharpener is a brutal little unit, that will get a knife shaving sharp in a few strokes. and for $10.50 you can get a sharpener and knife you can shave with.
  17. Ahhh so that’s why there was some “player hatin” on the Facebook page I couldn’t work out why there was an unusually high amount of negative vibes being sent his way, as I didn’t recognise the reels. I was just marvelling over the ingenuity and workmanship of his cart - without realising these photo’s were “flexing”with a heap of expensive reels
  18. And heres a quote on what the powered cart is capable of "I have driven it around, it's unbelievably quiet and more powerful than imagined, it will drag my 250 lb carcass, lol Upgrading to 2 -12v - 100ah lithium's. ouch!! Come spring we run er through the paces."
  19. Yeah he’s definitely an ideas man and if you are wondering how he gets it to the water....that’s not quite finished yet but it’s nearly done
  20. The guy is from America and some states have crazy allowances for how many rods and hooks you can have in the water at once. "Current Texas law allows each angler to have as many 100 hooks in a water body at one time. A single line may contain as many as 50 hooks.Oct 8, 2019" But even in Aus - if you were chasing multi-species, having 12 prerigged rods could be handy - 4 for snapper - 4 for whiting and some assorted squid jigs, gar float rigs and lures on the others. Alot of snapper fishos over here keep spare rods prerigged, so they can get straight bac
