  1. They might be ugly suckers, but they hit hard, fight well in shallow waters and a tasty boneless fillet is very hard to pass up! They'd definately have to rate amongst my favourites! {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif
  2. Alright, I'll be honest!I was up late one night wiv a bottle of red, surfing for porn and looking for hookers!Seems my typing may have been a wee bit dodgy at the time though, so here I am, and now you're stuck wiv me! {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gifOh, and don't tell the wife will ya! {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  3. A little tough dont ya think? After all, he did cut a swathing and manly figure in a tracksuit! Umm, now that I think about it, that's about all I've got to offer in his defence though! So maybe you are right after all. He's just an annoying little rodent, and I'm still glad I voted for SuperKevvy! I mean Kevin 07! I mean Mr K Rudd, who knows that Mandarin is more than just an acidic citrus fruit! Umm, what was the question again? Oh that's right, tacklestores! Is that where Johnnies gone now, Howard's Bait & Tackle? {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif
  4. I haven't done a head count recently, but it's just over the 40 mark.Bear in mind though, 1/4 of these are Bream spinning outfits, then when ya break the rest down, it's not as bad as it sounds, coz I've got a few Snapper outfits, a coupla 24kg outfits, a coupla surf spinning outfits, a coupla surf overhead outfits, a coupla nibbletips, a coupla light gp outfits, and then there's a few combo's included in the count which are a bit outdated and don't get used at all anymore, or are reserved as "loaners!"I guess when all is weighed up and ya need a few 4-6lb outfits, 4kg outfits, 6kg outfits, 10
  5. And THAT'S the thing!!!I've predominantly shopped at one store, since the guy first took over the shop! When I first started shopping there quite a few years back, I noticed that his prices seemed a little higher than some of the other stores I'd been into, but he was pretty close by and convenient for me.Over the years I've gotten some good deals, been given some great advice, and benefitted from other loyalty schemes instituted by this store!Yep, sometimes I do pay a little more, but that doesn't bother me, and other times if I need to save bucks, I tell him of other prices I've seen around t
  6. A local willing to match the price of an overseas seller! How can ya argue with that? Ya get the goods here, ya support the locals, AND importantly ya know the warranty will be honoured if ever there's a problem with the goods! Win/win!
  7. this is the problem I see!Tacklestores are sruggling and having to compete with more competition, ebay, overseas sellers, etc, etc, so they want our business more than ever!At the same time though, EVERYONE is struggling. Record housing costs, interest/mortgage rate rises, record fuel costs, rising food costs, etc, etc, and we've all had to tighten our belts and try to save a few bucks wherever we can to make ends meet!I too operate a small business, and I'm feeling the pinch like everyone else! I'm not making the profits I was 2-3 years back, hence I'm not purchasing the quantities of tackle
  8. The serial number on these reels solves all these problems, and ya can even see this one in the photo!
  9. Yours mate! I'll mark it on the calendar! {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  10. Is seems hardly fair to take the p*ss outta someone who's not here to defend himself....................so yeah, let's do it!!! ;DLast year's bloodworm run, I had some friends approach me who'd never wormed before, asking if they could come out to see how it's done.We ended up taking a friends boat instead of mine, coz wiv a cabin and nice high sides, we thought his boat would be much more comfortable than my centre console, given the chilly conditions out in the middle of the night during July!5 of us set sail (3 worm scoopers, one light boy, and a worm processor/bagger), and I'd made up net
  11. It happens everywhere mate! look for mangroves and intertidal flats, and you'll be fine!Businesses have been exploiting child labour since the days of Noah and the ark. I don't see no point in ME breaking such a long standing tradition! {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif
  12. I still giggle over that one mate! The poor bugger must have been freezin, but hey, when someone tells ya that ya need a LONG handled net, and you've never even tried this worming before, maybe it pays to actually LISTEN rather than leaning as far over the gunnel as ya can wiv a piddly little handle Ranger has shortened to stop your incessant whinging! {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gifI forget how cold the water was that night, but from the look on his face, I'd say about -1001 celcius. {SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gifIn regards to the blodworm run, it's something which happens ALL OVER. But Paul, if'n ya ca
  13. BB that topic IS about aquatic reserves, and I have no problems with them. They have my full support there. It's MARINE PARKS I have an issue with, and I'm afraid, VERY afraid!
  14. MATE! I saw the heading of your topic on Aquatic Reserves, and that's gonna be my next port of call, coz I'm really up min arms about the marine parks, and I've been contacting politicians for over two years now on that one!Do I really have to stop at 1000 words, coz I'll give ya volumes if'n ya get me started! {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gifI'll have problems with the quotes though, coz I cant get any of em to break their sacred vows of silence on this marine parks issue! {SMILIES_PATH}/angry.gif:(" title="Angry" />
  15. No fight mate! You actually posted a very informative topic! I've just had a bee in my bonnet about this one for a long time now, and one which I've made fisheries well aware of!I just want them to get this law right, so we don't suffer, get fined or be prosecuted by not knowing, being confused, or being ignorant of their silly laws which change weekly.Get me started on the marine parks! Gail Gago MLC, where are ya!! >
  16. I like it!!! {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gifListen guys, maybe I need to clarify things here!I was just reading back through this thread, and even I got the impression that I came on pretty strong.Yak works in a tacklestore, so it's us lot who rely on him to feed us correct and up to date information we can trust! He's done his best, contacting fisheries, trying to stay abreast of what's going on, and providing us with accurate information! He should be commended for going to these lengths! The problem here is fisheries themselves, and I've been battling this one out for months now, coz the laws are r
  17. I still find it very dificult to accept that:Meat cannot be used in any state waters, but you can still use it in state waters.Meat is not ok for burley, but it is ok for burley. How much is ok, how much is a little, how much is too much? We'll decide when the time comes, coz there's nothing in the rules about that, and we reseve the right to decide when and if we feel like it!I sure wish all laws were like that! No officer, I'm just a BIT drunk, and I was only speeding a LITTLE, so use ya discretion and let me go!Oh, and I'm not suggesting throwing bucketloads of skippy into the water to brain
  18. and therefore is legal.Ummm, then explain THIS to me please? Please note their use of the word BERLEY, being OK to use, even though they ALSO say using it for burley is NOT ok! Hence the officers discretion! ???Anxiously awaiting a replyLuv Ranger! {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif
  19. WELL! It clashes with the colour of your eyes, it doesn't accesorise well with the kayak, and you have far TOO MUCH MONEY!!! {SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif
  20. I am DEADLY serious! ESPECIALLY when I see these words together: "It is considered unlikely that the small amounts of meat used in this way will have significant attractant properties. Fisheries Officers will use their discretion in weighing up the circumstances of its use."I do not just sprout off with this stuff as "off the cuff" or "flippant" comments without doing a little homework myself!Ya throw a handful or two in to keep the mullet in the area and get them feeding, which you believe is ok as a "small amount of burley" suddenly the officer uses his "discretion" to consider it having "si
  21. Some very interesting information there!Just a coupla things which immediately struck me when I first read it through: This suggests that we are still in the dark when using Mullet mixes, and it'll be up to each fisheries officer to decide if we should be charged or not! Surely they can make this a little clearer, so that we at least have the chance to assess and defend our actions if we're gonna use these mixes. One of my main reasons for being against marine parks is that there is no transparency. The government will not release any details on marine parks until AFTER the bill has been pas
  22. Although this is interesting and many of the above bullets are very serious points, I for one am glad that the MINI-SERIES has been abandoned! Mills & Boon said the same thing to me! {SMILIES_PATH}/cry.gif Actually, I thought the opposite. I thought that they were issues we COULD all agree on. ie: importance of an ice slurry or iki-jimi to kill a fish quickly and humanely to minimise pain/suffering, and also minimise the build-up of lactic-acid which taints the flesh! Or the importance of wetting your hands before handling a fish if you're a C&R fisherman! Or swiming a fish prior to
  23. We must all suffer for out sport! It's only the depth of suffering which is left to the discretion of the sportsman!I recall you recently suffering over wheel bearing issues! Maybe I'm just a little more committed than you! Then again, maybe I should BE committed! {SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif
  24. Did the happy angler get his lure back?
