  2. G'day S&Her's.My old man picked up a 7' 6" Shimano Ian Miller raider spin 3-4 Kg about a year ago for about $280.00 in NSW.Now he thinks it is a brilliant rod and it is a pretty top notch rod but I'd like to know what you guys and gals out there think about them if you know what rod I am talking about. Cheers guys.Tight lines.
  3. Oh that's awesome Ranger!Yeah wouldn't say "decent job" as the boss couldn't organize a certain adult activity in a red light district but yeah not too bad lol. It is at Rays Outdoors for those who would like to know but since we have been bought out by BCF I hope that I can get a transfer. Anyone want's to come and check out the below average gear at Rays I am at the Elizabeth store
  4. Yes I know Strikers it has been a fair while since I have been on S&H and believe me I have had some withdrawals. Now I have a new job at a certain outdoors shop I found out we have been bought out by another fishing shop and we are now having clearance so that way we don't have to count as much for stock take. Now I was looking in our clearance centre and found a couple little ripper bargains in there. For a grand total of $30.00 I have picked up an environet that is big enough to land a damn human and a sexy little 7 foot Shimano Aquatip 2-5 KG rod. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: (shall p
  5. I have never used these myself but black magic have pre made leaders specifically for sharks. Cant say who stocks them because it is not a sponsor store but yeah I hear they are good.
  6. They are good those PFD's but if you were to tie the bladder on to your belt with a little bit of line and pre inflate it I believe it can work.
  7. Now guys I cant say I have ever been rock fishing as I am not the most experienced fisherman out there but I have a little tip that my old man gave me for an improvised rock fishing flotation device that I am sure a lot of you may have heard of.Simple as this and you can have a good time making one to. The bladder from a 4-5 ltr wine cask. :silly: :silly: I know it wont be easy to blow up the good ol silver pillow if you were to get washed in, but every little bit counts if it means coming back alive after being washed in by a wave that you missed etc etc. :S :S So if you can try taking one
  8. Hey mate, with my light set up I am rolling with a shimano alivio 2500 reel with 8 pound mono on it. I love the combo to be honest. the only thing about it is it definatly needs braid on it. I have found with the mono that it doesn't cast out to well. I would recommend this reel to anyone to be honest. But like I said braid it up. -Ty
  9. Nah mate I was too knackered to do anything I was working night shift so I would try going to bed at like 8 cause I was knackered from trying to stay awake all day then get up at like 3 am then by 10 id be stuffed again.
  10. Oh mate no fishing???? I cant talk I went to wallaroo a while back for my anniversary and didn't fish once. I sat there for 3 days starring at my rigs
  11. So I called my uncle who is a RAAF Sergeant based in Williamstown NSW yesterday and we were talking fishing and I was chatting away for a good 15 minutes with him and telling him about some of my fails and wins and how I am aching for a fishing trip down to salt creek. So we kept chatting and then he just casually drops in to the conversation "oh yeah I have a fishing trip coming up in march" so I did what everyone normally does when this comes up in conversation I said, "oh ok what are you going for?" He replied with "I'm not to sure. I have no Idea what you can catch in VANUATU!!!!!" I was l
  12. It normally is shimano or it's nothing but I bought this before I got in to fishing seriously and made my decision about shimano. As they say beggars cant be choosersYeah only used it once and it was great. Loved it.
  13. Yeah I had the original silstar on it but it busted.
  14. OK guys to end this topic I ended up just heading down to the old mans place and getting the one him and myself co-own.It is a Silstar SP1202SFM 12 ft 8-12 kg rod teamed up with an abu garcia 558GLX. It has mono on the spool that came with it when I bought it from believe it or not....Salisbury Dive and Tackle World. Not sure if that was before or after the change in location. All I remember was it was nearest Holdens. But yeah guys thats my brief rundown on my surfie.
  15. I have a small as hell apartment so all I do is put line in the kitchen sink, keep a bit of tension on it and then I just go on spooling it whilst drinking beer in front of the telly. The boss hates it though seeing she ends up taking herself out on it when she gets to to go to the loo lol. :woohoo:
  16. Awesome ranger. Cheers for the advice. same for yourself dubs thanks heaps. I shall take this advice on board and look around.
  17. Ok guys while I am here. I did mention a fishing store that was not sponsoring this site. Not thinking about it I regretfully mentioned this store and a couple of other links without quite thinking of the sponsor rules. It is to my understanding that this has been taken down and that is fine.Lesson learned. Thanks guys I shall remember to screen my posts from now on
  18. Finatic: I was actually just down there NYE and bought a shit load of sinkers and a couple rod holders etc. Lol. Did look at a couple of rods :DBut yeah jimmy im looking for a 12 foot escape with et surf rod. I like his combos.
  19. Cheers Del. Might need to take you up on that. Just need my own...sick of calling dad up to borrow his gear lol then driving all the way to salisbury for it.
  20. Ok this one seems better. Like I said no bells and whistles just something cheap and simple that will do the job.Penn isn't quite my brand but I have heard a couple of nice things.
  21. G'day guys. I'm reasonably new to the whole fishing thing, well not new but I am just getting into it seriously any way and getting myself set up etc etc. Anyway I am looking for a new surf rod, nothing to fancy and definitely nothing to pricey. Big W has a nice range of Shimano snapper combo's one in particular is the Escape with ET 7'6" snapper combo rod teamed up with an alivio 6000FA reel. I already have a 7 ft spin combo that is the same brand and thats a nice little combo which makes me think I'd like to stick with this brand for the time being and upgrade a bit down the track. I'd be th
