  1. I thought similar to drawn, that the rec limit would be cut, but heard recently that pirsa has no plans at all to cut the limit in the next season at least. Agree with drawn, the cockles are still there in good numbers. There is often a gloomy picture painted by many who would do anything to keep people away from the area. This report is getting a bit old now, but is still an interesting read about the research that has actually occurred with Goolwa cockles, I leant a lot from it:http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/13007/stock_assmnt_report_goolwa_cockle_2003.pdfAn interesting
  2. Bugs/GNSS/Raw, all you have done on 2 websites now is bicker with lots of different people in GPS threads, and I honestly can't be bothered discussing this any further. Apologies Brenton, my posts to you were genuinely trying to help.
  3. I will agree to disagree with you and stand by my comments. OK, maybe not EXACTLY 205 metres, but certainly within 5 metres, and should sufficiently address the original poster's question I reckon. Move on shall we bugs?
  4. All it means is that the .08 west and .08 south, is the difference between WGS 84 and AGD66, which is spot on.The first marks listed are WGS84, and the second lot are AGD66.Between the two lists of marks it says "The following locations require WGS 84 Systems to have an adjustment of 0.08 southward and 0.08 westward to agree with AGD 66 points below. Just for fun, if you've got GPS software on your puter, put in the same mark in WGS84 and also in AGD66 datums. The AGD66 mark will be exactly 205 metres NE of the WGS84 mark.
  5. Gday MattVery good question about water temp. I don't target bream etc.............mainly fish in the gulf, and I believe the water temperature plays a huge part in fish movement patterns in the gulf. Particularly with whiting. KG's are known to move in to shallower grounds during the winter, when they apparently breed. Whether it's to breed or not, we do know for sure that the larger schools of fish move in shallower in winter.I have been monitoring the water temperature this winter, and have found it to be around 14 degrees up until last weekend, according to my transducer (has temp gauge).

    SQUID WITCH

Was lucky enough to try one as a preview to going on sale and they are the goods. Caught us many good sized squid up at Hughes recently. Basically a wire jag but without the big circle of hooks at the bottom, which so often will stop a squid from attacking it. The squid witch has fewer hooks on it and presents the fish in a much more natural way. {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif Also has 2 side prongs parallel to the main stick, which hold the fish on the jag, and stop it from spinning around.
  7. In my experience of getting worms the last 4 years, you can't pin point the run to an exact night. It can vary year to year, but usually starts 3-4 days after the new moon in July, and can last for 3-4 days, and yes on a run out tide. Also another run in August. We did better in August last year, but it varies year to year. {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  8. Thanks Spotter for your valuable feedback, I am another who is extremely concerned about the impacts this plant will have on the pristine waters of Hughes Bay, and have only just come up to speed with all these goings on. Will be watching and contributing with interest to any further public consultations. Cheers
  9. Geez you're a game man fishnfreak - if you get a hookup, reckon there'd be only 1 thing to say - hang on!! {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gifHope you get one mate. {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  10. Good post spog1, useful info for those who are hating the price of cockles. Imported prawn meat is going to just go up in price unfortunately, as recently much tighter restrictions were placed on imported seafood, due to what they said was quality. Ya cant help but wonder though if it is just another example of the power weilding local seafood industry trying to force out cheaper imports. Bloodworm run is coming up soon too mate, better grab some of those too hey. {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  11. Also Brenton, the way to post a link is simply right click on the web address in the browser above, and copy. Then simply paste it into word, or else straight into the post you are making.Cheers mate.
  12. They are in AGD66 if I read it right, and entering them in WGS 84 like DB did will put them approx. 200 metres out.The adjustment of .08 W and .08 S will give you the same marks in WGS 84 datum. The best way to solve your problem is quite simple. Go into settings on your GPS and change the datum to AGD66. Enter the coordinates straight in, and once complete, go back into settings, and change the datum back to WGS84. The unit will convert the marks precisely, eliminating any guess work.
  13. Whole whiting or whiting frames for me. Snook fillets or pieces too.
