  2. thats par for the course at the moment in our area.seen on the news the other night that all the GW's had stayed around the neptunes & not come into the gulfs......not sure where they get their info.we have had up to 3 sharks in 1 day harrassing our snappergreat footage' date=' even better to see it in real lifecheersBigAsh[/quote']yeah its the same in whyalla with my pro mate... he had 3 around his boat eh other day, the next day another one he got a great pic of, which i got sent today so shall load up....
  3. extended trips to the rocks or west coast beach will see me take marinated steak, sausages, baked beans, and have been known to cook spuds in the coals WITH REAL BUTTER... yeah baby... homemade soup a few times, hotdogs and hamburgers go down rather well. heating and cooking on a campmaster stove, with the gas canisters... NOW IM HUNGY... dammit....

  4. hahahahaah... THIS particular steak, to me, HAS HAD ITS ARSE WIPED, AND BEEN THROWN ON A PLATE... im SURE it went MOOOO when you put the fork in... not for me thanks muchly... SANDWHICH steak, minute each side, and on bread... marinated works well...i had a steak in adeladie a few mths ago, " how do you like steak sir?" CREMATE IT...VERY WELL DONE.... NO BLOOD PLEASE...now this was a 45 doller steak, that when i cut , OOOZED blood, i sent it back, the chef came out and said that IS very well done... sorry chef, i will have a refund please... i said NO blood, and meant it... kfc went down well after i left...

  5. love fishing in the rain.. and for what i do , if its got some wind behind it, all the better.. one of the best trips fish wise ive had was when we had to turn our back to the water because the rain was that hard it hurt... couldnt see much of the water anyway... but the run off dirties the water up, and that means land based snapper in close... screw the rain, im going fishing in it...

  6. ive caught big salmon on a remote beach over W.A. in nothing but wetsuit boots' date=' yep you read it right, wetsuit boots totally nube except for the boots!! very liberating!! :boot:[/quote']hahahahaa... i met a couple of lads out fishing once, and they had a fish with me a few times... good lads as well, they often hit the west coast for salmon, and one of them reckons when they go to a different beach, they both strip off and do a tockley run to the waters edge and back again as an offering.. just WHAT they were offering the water and fish i didnt ask....
  7. for surf beaches over the west coast, light track suit pants, and thin t shirt.. normally not too cold, as your up and down the beach running away from the waves crashing in.. soon warms you up... and i wear shoes... a broken beer bottle which became exposed , but thankfully seen before doing any damage, means i wear shoes now...

  8. Way to go mate' date=' nice to do something different for a change have done a bit of dabbing from the boat and it is good fun. Your bro is always falling over , do you take him along for the entertainment mate.   Hope he did'nt hurt himself this time. :woohoo:[/quote']hhaah, this is my younger bro, hea big lad... wouldnt want to meet him in a dark alley thats for sure... but hes a giant teddy bear... ( ive got 4 brothers, all fish, cept for one bro, boats and rocks, and all on alveys and snyderglas or butterworth rods) my elder bro that broke his arm and shoulder blade on the rocks with me, too the boat out a couple of weeks ago... he cant pull the pick up, and 4 hrs on the water chasing whiting was enough for him.. the pain set in to his arm, so hes still not right yet.
  9. Wading for gar is somthing I have never done but would love to have a go. If anyone wants to show a complete novise how one night I would be most gratefull.

pretty easy matey.. nice clam still night, with no moon is best, headlight on, and walk around with a net.. they will find you.. put the net in front of them and they just swim in pretty much hahaha...ive had a couple of you beut underwater lights now, the first needed a car battery, and blew the bulb first time out, *( bulbs at woolies prety cheap) but also the wires broke off, after 2 trips..the 2nd was a AA battery led kind i got from bcf... that worked good, but corrosion got in real fast, and it also doesnt work anymore after about 6 trips... at around 60 a piece, once bitten twice shy...headlight torch is all i use now, but mate bought a specialised underwater light from a dive shop... he gaurenteed if it got water in he can have another to replace it..and as yet, not a problem, and hes snorkling underwater with it.
  10. have worn waders just about forever, on the rocks.. NEVER on a rough salmon beach... i did have a pair that leaked.. and wading around in shallow water caused no problems... but when coming out, lugging 40kg of extra weight around is hard work.once launched the boat off a beach using a tractor.. used waders UNTIL i was on board, then they came off....your a long time dead....

  11. spur of the moment thing , so me and bro hit the dirt and went for a wade in a spot we know for gar.just using a headlight torch each, we started walking around.. the small bugs flying around the light were incredible...couldnt see my bro's haed at one stage.. just a big ball of insects..walked to a couple of trees, and back picking up a few gar along the way.. did it again, and i heard a thud.. there was my bro face first on a rick island that wasnt there 10 mins ealier... thats how fast the tide was running out..silly bugger.seen a few squid out and about, and bro devised a noval wy to catch them... tried to justnet them like a gar, but thats easier said than done.. they just kept sccooting away.. si rather than chase them, just smash them on the head with the net, and then yank the net backwards.. worked rather well.ended up with 16 gar, just about all thumpers.r.. , which is now in my freezer, wating for an old mate from west aust, whos in town and im taking for a fish for snapper tmorrow might..heard a noise.. whats that?along came aussie;s finest in a friggen tank ....sure wasnt in stealth mode thats for sure.. hahaha..Posted Image

  12. CORRECTION... wasnt a seamaster, it was a SEAMARTIN.. if only he knewwhat the asking price is for one of them.., his wasnt wood , but was in mint cond, cept for the borken spring.....http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SEAMARTIN-HAND-MADE-WOODEN-SURF-REEL-/120690113397?pt=AU_FishingReels&hash=item1c19b0fb75

  13. took a mate and his father in law out to the rocks this evening.. the old bloke didnt have a rod, so i lent him my loner butterworth with a big eggie on it...nope, he took the eggie off, and puts on a masterpiece of a relic seamaster.. first time ive actually seen one in real life...he got snagged, and the reel let go...he tried to sort it out, and next thing, a vintage seamaster is flying across the rocks... hahaha.. pretty runny, but he composed himself and picked it up for a re think.. pulled it apart on the rocks and got it working again.. few casts, and then it broke again, and again it flew.. hahahaai went and got a screwdriver, and we had a look inside.. was the simpelest hing wrong with it, but couldnt be fixed.. a broken spring , which is needed to stop the reel from spinning backwards... he chanegd to the egiie, but not a fish to be seen... plenty of shitties around, as the rod dances around for a couple of minutes, then stops...meaning no bait.. oh well.... we get em next time.

  14. been on holidays for not even 2 weeks... im on my 4th tank of diesel, have used 4 cuttlefish as bait, bag of tommies, lost 15 or so sinkers, and about 9 rigs with 2 hooks and a swivel on each rig... add drinks, ice and yeah, im pushing prob 400 in the last 2 weeks on fishing... and going again tonight for a garfish dab at a spot we know... wading in water about 40kms from town.
