  3. an update if anyone interested... bro clive has returned to work a couple of weeks ago..hes still not right' date=' and having trouble lifting his arm.so he had an ultrascan' date=' turns out he not only broke his shoulderblade, he also broke his arm.. humourous bone, and the doctor didnt see it broken on the exrays... words fail me..it has healed itself, and knitted as it should, but he still cant lift his arm above his head or straight out in front of himtherapy i helping....[/quote'']Thats no good to hear mate.Fractures can be difficult to pick sometimes. Usually in rural centres, the emergency cover is provided by GPs or SMOs and not orthopedic specialists. Also sometimes with only hard films the quality of the images is poor. Most simple fractures to the upper humerus are treated conservatively, with a sling so at least it has healed. The next step will be physiotherapy. If your brother has private cover, I would definitely suggest seeing a private specialist or orthopod.
he on the mend, and getting pysio, and is even talking about coming the rocks ina couple of weeks for a fish... well see how he goes first..AND BLOODY HELL FISHY FISH...

  6. I'm running a Shimano baitrunner 6500(spinner) with 30lb braid' date=' will this reel be a good combo with the Snyder or wilson?[/quote']certainly will ive seen a snyder used with a bait runner, if i didnt use alveys on the low mount rods, i would be use a bait runner as well....
  7. same rod as mine boyington.. MT144 8 Wrap, currently getting a birthday with new threads. also a new purchase a couple of days ago, almost 100% certain its a MT153 8 wrap i picked up for 20 bucks the other day.identical to my big rod cept whippier like mt 144..then ive got my buterworth MT144 8 wrap, whcih is my loaner rod for anybody that wishes to fish the rocks with me that doesnt have a suitable rod, its matched with a cheap ass spinner, because i dont use it much.. also a MT6 110 overhead snyder matched with an abu7000and then the big daddy... my MT153 7 wrap... this is my "COME ERE" rod... aint much in the water will break that sucker...love this rod to pieces, and would be my rod of choice for XXXOS anything that swims...Posted ImagePosted Image

  8. im biased as hell, but an old butterworth or snyderglas will see you right for the next 30 yrs or more.... hard to find, but still a few around...heard a rumour wilson have bought the rties and the moulds to remake the snyder's., if they do the same quality as the originals i know what i would be spending money on...

  9. one thing im trying to work out, is HOW on a spinning rod, do i get spider webs forming over night on every eye? this is just the first coat of epoxy, it will get a much thicker coat which will hide the lines in the thread, which can only be seen up close... i took the pics with a macro lens...but thats about all i can do for a few weeks.. i ran out of gold thread with 2 more eyes still to do.... will have to wait til i mosy on down to bcf in adelaide to grab some more gold....

  10. thanks all, we just got dumped on big time with thunder, lightning and flash flooding.. watched a hilux 4wd, with a lift kit go through a puddle, with water over the bonnet, on the other side was a poor woman , stopped in her near new commodore, with the kids in the back bucketing water out from the interior...oops, but the worst bit? had goverment plates, so all of us tax payers have just bought a new commodore for the goverment....

  11. what sort of camera do u have rocknev ive got a nikon but have not managed to get any decent lightning pix couple but just out of focus!

its a canon EOS100D slr digital , comes with 2 lenses, a wide angle and a 75-300 zoom lens... a great deal of luckis invovled, but what the bloke who set it up told me was, decent tripod, manual focus, and focus on something in the distanct.. then press away and see what happens..., he set it up for 30 seconds, and that way explained, the shutter was open for 30 seconds, and will capture multible strikes if they are in the same area in that 30 second time frame...and as luck would have it, we are in the middle of a kickarse lightning storm at this very moment... trouble is, its not night time... ut adelaide people, keep your eyes and ears open tonight... very good chance your going to cop what we have just recieved....grab the cameras and see how you go.
  12. yeah you need to have your witts about u when doing bindings they are so thin that even wide awake a few hours and you have square eyes lol looking great tho! hmmm if only i had some spare cash to get another rod to build!

rebuild an old rod like me, this is my 25 yr old snyderglas... love this rod to pieces tuff as nails, oh so light, and very tough...
  13. That helps heaps rock nev' date=' yea i have that option on the dslr jimbo, but it is always better to have the cable or remote for these kinda shots hey. I have neither. :([/quote']me niether mate, got a good tripod though, has a bit of weight behind it so any wind doesnt ruin the photo by shaking the camera... was at work last night, with the camera, but plans of sneaking away during lunch break to take a few pic were short lived.. big brakdown so didnt get a lunch.. had to go cut some steel back at the workshop, and out of the windscreen i saw one of the bet lightning flashes ive ever seen... the whole sky lit up, and camera was in my car... wasnt a happy camper, but work comes first, sadly...im rostered off now, and a good mate who is right into photography has been checking a weather site, and it might be looking the go for maybe tonight,,, if so i will pick uhim up, and we will chase it if need be...heres a link to his lightning photos he has taken... 3 pages of it...http://shawsky.smugmug.com/Weather/Storms-and-Lightning/3236795_kPYvV#179499825_dWtwe
  14. Hows the rebuild on the snyder going mate.:woohoo:looks nice with gold and the black over lay on a maroon rod.:woohoo: Just a bit anxious to see the finished product.

going good so far, thought there was a bit too much gold , so i added a bit more black to the highlight thread doing nothing.. thats eopxied ready to go, and will get stuck into the eyes tomorrow... lack of sleep from night shifts has me seeing double with the threads so thought best to leave it until im wide awake... and its too bloody humid outside... will snap a pic off later today,
  15. Great shots' date=' did you have any trouble getting these great pics?Any idea what the shutter speed was?[/quote']hahaha, mate sorry have to laugh, i bought the camera the day before the storm, went up to hummoch hill, and turned it on.. some random bloke said gday, and i said mate, you know anything about cameras? hahaha.. turns out he did,, and set it all up for me, we all pretty much got the same pics, cept for that last one.. it started to rain, and i moved to the other side of the shelter, pushed the button, and WHAM... got it dead centre of frame, the other 6 blokes up there shooting daggers at me because i was the only one that got it... ive since read the book, and im lost with all the jargon they have written into the book...but the camera was set on iso100, f5.6, manual focus, and was set for a 30sec open shutter time... if that helpsnight shift tonight, and im going to study the book yet again to try and take full advantage of this camera
