Don`t know about facility enhancement being a major consideration here in SA, but I for one wouldn`t mind paying 20 bucks a year if (big proviso!) the money was allocated specifically towards fishing regs enforcement on jetties, at boat ramps etc.I`ve absolutely had it with the "lowest common denominator" stories of undersize and overbag antics...without being too starry-eyed, a couple of "flying squads" might, just might put the fear of god into the plonkers who don`t think past their next eskyful of undersize crabs or whiting. If only, eh? The ensuing benefits to fish stocks are self-evident.Anyway, as a couple of people have said - we have had this discussion recently...and there are certainly some strongly held views which make for interesting reading!

Tako, with respect, please consider...Are you referring to the Vics who come over here to spend their hard-earned Victorian shekels in SA regional communities on food, bait and accommodation? Are you referring to the Vics who would be outnumbered by SA boats 10 to 1 (dozens to one?)Are you referring to the Vics who do not have an opportunity (unlike locals) to hammer the SA snapper population every second or third weekend to bag limit (if they choose to do so) 11 months of the year launching out of Metro, Broughton, Stansbury, Whyalla etc?

kon got a reaction from Jack. in The Desal plant ....thoughts??
JackFlicked through a Uni of NSW paper recently (Roberts/Johnston/Knott) reviewing worldwide studies on desal plant impacts. The short version - many local variables of course, but you are talking salinity levels above normal generally extending no more than a few hundred metres, max. Depending on the type of plant, chemical discharge can be a consideration though.Port Stanvac should not be an issue on balance, but the Whyalla cuttlefish may start curling up their toes(?) if the boffins get it wrong with that desal...

If you can insert 35.01.92 but not 35.19.389 then I would suggest your unit is set up to only the second decimal place, and does in fact work in decimals of a minute for the last number rather than seconds for the last number - otherwise you wouldn`t be able to punch in anything above 59 for the last number (ie there are 60 seconds in a minute)A workaround for the time being (until you can determine how and if you can change settings on your unit to accept the last number to the third decimal place) is just to round off to the closest second decimal place, thusS35.19.389 E138.18.985 becomesS35.19.39 E138.18.981 nautical mile = 1 minute of latitude = 6080 feet. 0.01 of a minute is 60 feet. Don`t complain...beats the crap out of using great-uncle Bob`s notebook visual marks!

If the day comes when we must have an RFL, it is only ever going to be a good thing if we have input into how it works, how much it costs and where the money is spent.- or else this will be the result.www.xtranormal.com/watch/7226899Regards,RJ
