  2. Great idea basically mate but, what we generally do is point the questioner to a link on the topic and they are instantly locked in to all the available info we've all put up there.Problem with this is that you may have to look back through hundreds of posts over the years and,if this was an option, for someone who had the time and energy, I'd suggest maybe having a header of a particular species of fish and then check out all the links to the posts and include them under that heading. This can be complemented by any Forum user if they come across an interesting piece on a species and they coul
  3. I've been through them all mate and have caught all sorts of fish, fresh and salt on SP's and am currently having yet another honeymoon period with the Berkley hollow bellys and a brand new SP called a pintail
  4. Just checked out the "Swellnet" Surf cam situated at Southport Life saving club and you can't see a bl**dy thing for the rain and when it pans around its solid "White water" to the horizon
  5. The tangled webs our politicians weave have to be seen to be believed!I've been an Aussie for more than 20 years now and DENR has suffered numerous acronymical (I think I've invented a new word?) name changes in the name of efficiency,However, unfortunately, it seems to have gone backwards in the face of Government cost cutting excercises resulting in a shortage of rangers and a massive work load put on to the "Friends of Parks" Groups, who are to a man/woman, unpaid volunteers contributing literally thousands of person hours per year to keep our Parks in the amazing condition that they are to
  6. Natural Resources Management Board, SOON to be amalgamated into DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) Who knows what wonderful acronym will materialize from this marriage?. One thing for sure, it's a cost cutting excercise and has already taken a toll of more Rangers who have taken severance packages as sweeteners!
  7. Good work Kon, I'm impressed, wish I wasn't so lazy with the techy bit, its not that I aint got the time either mate :clap:Here's a little gem which has just hit my Monitor a few minutes ago, its the report on the removal of the Mangroves and if you can plough through it, you will find that there were NINE distinct patches of Mangroves found and can you believe, 104 plants in total taken out of the system!!! http://www.communitywebs.org/OnkaparingaParks/pdf_files/Onkaparinga%20mangrove%20survey%202010.pdf
  8. Oh Oh, poor old Council has got it in the neck again, unfortunately they are not the perpetrators in this case.I've just received a pic of the largest mangrove in bits as it was removed and I can confirm categorically that it was the Adelaide and Mount Lofty NRM Board who removed all of the mangroves!!Does any one know how to get a PDF file into something I could post here? The good old copy/paste doesn't do it!!
  9. Not a whole lot of trout in there tho' :silly: :silly: :silly:
  10. AND I promise, none of us have shares in the Shimano Company
  11. Yep and all the other species mentioned in the post.Awesome machine it is. If I can only take one rod to "Valhalla" with me when I go....!!
  12. And they have a heavier class as well, mine is the 2 to 4 kg
  13. Disappointed no one has given the good old Shimano Raider a rap!!!Luv it to death, 2 piece 7ft 6in, I've caught most trophy sized fish in SA Freshwater on it including a 2.5 kg Trout, a 1.62kg reddy, Carp to 4 kilo (bye catch), 2 kg Bass, salmon in the surf, Bream, etc.I have never broken one yet in over 6 years of fishing the Fresh and Salt nearly every week end!!I now own 3, the other two snapped up from S&H sellers for a song!My regular fishing buddy currently has one on loan where he is finding out why I rave about 'em so much!I paid $150 for my first one from the O' Halloran Hill Tack
  14. Soooooo!!!!! The Council is once more the Culprit :S :S :S
  15. Have spoken to a number of knowledgeable people I know and apparently the NRM Board was approached about the mangroves 10 years ago and although they acknowledged their existence and that they are NOT endemic to the Onka River, they decided to leave them alone at that time. What I can't find out is why that attitude has changed?.I do know that a lot of samphire and native (but non endemic vegetation) has been removed for the 10 metre wide bridge maintenance track which runs through the old sewage settlement lagoons, alongside the proposed new 1.2 km long rail bridge.SA Water has undertaken, alo
  16. Pulling a few strings guys, should know something soon
  17. Silvers do get those spots on them but the spiky looking anal fin makes me fancy it to be a BASS
  18. I've followed this thread with great interest as I have been privy to a bombshell coming to these ponds very soon in the form of a mass poisoning and possible expiations for any one caught fishing in here in the future or introducing feral fish.Check out my "Freshwater Scene" Column in this issue of "Wild Coast" Magazine for more info.
  19. YAAAAAY the hippy sheila!!!! Maybe you could airbrush some of her dress away to make it a bit more appealing to us smelly old Fishos
  20. Definitely the stuff of dreams mate, I've got Deer, Goat, pig and fox trophys home but not one fish yet Got me fired up to find a bit more about molding now, I'd guess the cost would be in the actual artwork of painting them once you have the mold made? Thanks for sharing those molds with us. Just gotta convince the bride it'll be a great idea to have them all over our lounge room just like yours
  21. No swivels needed at all for all soft plastics and hard bodys the only lures you WILL need swivels with are the "Celta" style spinners with the blade which rotates on the lures axis! These lures are great fish catchers but are total shockers for causing line twist  Two swivels help and an anti-kink vane works as well. I wont bother with them, mine were "binned" long ago for my style of fishing
  22. Can't speak for the salties but we freshies luv them "decoy" bait snaps with no swivels on them in the 00 size. As Ranger says, they are fiddly, but, almost invisible in the water attached to a flurocarbon leader and carry a promise of 18 kg breaking strain Sportfishing Scene Salisbury, Kym's the MAN!
