  1. I am planning on trying to catch my first Snapper, so that's what I'll be targetting. Well, along with the Mullies that is
  2. The pics make me want to try more freshwater fishing!
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. I will persist and maybe strike pay dirt. I have only ever caught Mulloway as a by-catch and now I'm chasing them exclusively, jack squat! Hahaha. I Remember stumbling onto them off Wallaroo jetty one hot stormy night while fishing for Snook. All I had was a whitebait and a split shot which when was taken by the first Mulloway, scared the shit out of me! On 8lb line all four were landed with a crab net. That was a great night. I have decked the Tinny out with a home made live bait tank and plan to spend many a cold night Persueing these great fish. These shitty tid
  4. Been out a couple of times chasing these fish and have failed every time. Just wanted to know what rigs you guys were using off a boat with livies on? I have been using a running sinker rig ( like a Snapper rig) with a single 4/0 Gamagatsu live bait hook and one of those easy rig sinker holders. I have tried also letting the fish swim freely without weight but I have no controll over where the little shit swims. Any help appreciated guys. Mick.
  5. Hopefully my mince meat baits I use for mullet won't bring in a great white!
  6. Shimano rods for me with Daiwa reels on them
  7. Hey guys. Just wondering, as i have a Shimano BTR 6000D and wanted to know your thoughts as to which rod (boat use for Snapper, Mulloway) you would put it on? I don't have a great budget to work on and pretty much out of touch with all the new technology aswell . Was hoping a good rod would cost less than $200 but i have no idea. I don't want to walk into a tackle store knowing bugger all and getting touched up on price or worse, buying a peice of shit :c .Cheers in advance...Mick
  8. Thanks for the replies guys! It should be said that the "force Ten" reference was only a joke and these hooks were only intended for small bread and butter fish. I have never gone for Snapper which will change soon. I have always wanted to catch one but never tried! Will not skimp on the hooks for a possible Big Red! I only have a 4.1 tinny with a 25hp on it so won't be heading out miles to catch em
  9. I have been out of this fishing game for a bloody long time (shooting was the reason) and on my trip yesterday to grab some hooks i noticed how much things have changed. The amount of soft plastics and lures is mind blowing! Anyway, i picked up some Gamakatsu chemically sharpened hooks in a bulk pack and thought i would compare them to the Jarvis Walker chemically sharpened hooks for a third of the price. I don't know about anyone here but, i found there to be bugger all difference in the sharpness (if any!). I don't need my tackle box to be a brand name box so i think i will just go with the
