  1. You are doing the burley exactly how I did it...all I can add is, place a freezer bag inside the pipe and when you want to use the burley, leave it in the bag and just stab a couple of holes in it to slow the dispersal rate down.
  2. Night time tinny fishing with my mate, talking shit for hours and any fish is a bonus
  3. Just came back from BigW and saw they had the 'ice box style' of esky for under a hundred bucks for a 62ltr. I'm on a budget and if the thing was any good, I would save half the money. Anyone have one of these and what's your opinions on it?
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. Will check into some of these esky's mentioned. I guess preparation is also the key when It comes to the Ice I'm putting in the esky's in the first place. I will freeze my own blocks now, but I still will invest in a better ice box also
  5. My esky,( only a willow in 55ltr) only keeps the ice for a few hours, then it's all melted..I guess, 'you only get what you pay for' rings true here. Granted, I have a Tinny and the esky is in full sun but surely the ice should last longer? What do you guys think of the ' ice box' type of eskies? And what would you recommend in around 60 ltr capacity?
  6. Shimano for rods and daiwa for reels. My opinion anyway
  7. Hmmmm if you are referring to me....I can't thank you enough
  8. I wouldn't be throwing any of those back! Definitely keepers
  9. My last day of Uni tomorrow and then I plan to help congest those boat ramps quite a few times over the coming months
  10. Need to put all the ocean cams on a 'sticky post'.
  11. Shit, was only like $20-$30. Mine is the smaller model 2-4KG but a larger model came as a combo. I haven't seem them there for a while (Munno Para Kmart) but I keep looking because ill get another for a back-up.
  12. I love my cheap and nasty Shimano tele rod!! (Kmart special). I have it in my backpack when I take out the motorbike and have a pack of soft plastics on hand too. You never know where you'll end up on an enduro bike Ps. 'ME TED' hit the nail on the head... Couldn't have said it better myself.
  13. Ok I'll throw something up for shits and giggles! I found an old tackle carry case the other day from many years ago full of all of my favourite hard bodied lures i used from way back when. All the hooks were pretty much rusted off and need replacing but the bodies were still in good condition. Anyway, I used the swimming pool to see just how well they swam compared to some new model types I have from recent times and was shocked at just how well these lures, mainly Abu Killer types ( two piece ones) and the mighty Rapala Magnums, ( my all time favourites) swam. I love the old style lures and
  14. Absolutely terrific footage of the next up and coming angler! I love taking my kids out on the water and looks like your boy loves it too.
  15. I would have to say Ray n Anne's. was just in there shooting the shit about " the good old days" and just looking around. Don't know the chaps name but a top bloke and all too willing to help you out with whatever dumb question ( and I have a lot) you might have
  16. A mate and I headed up towards Pelican point last night for a squirt on our enduro bikes to have a look around and we were surprised that the old dirt road next to the Submarine base was reopened! Seems like the local council have even built a little shade area and hopefully it won't get vandalised and they shut it off again. Just up the road was another open road back to the area closer to Pelican point. I'm not sure if the gate is closed at night for this spot but I'm happy that places have been reopened because we used to spend many hours throwing lures around for ST's there. Hopefully ever
  17. I ended up going back to the mono for the 'wind on shock leader'. I will make my traces and rigs using the fluorocarbon though. Thanks for your input guys. I was already using carbon in light lines for Whiting etc and works a treat. Just thought I would see if it can catch me a mulloway too
  18. I got it in 40lb for mully and Snapps but I like to wind on a few meters for a leader and fluorocarbon just spits off the reel like whipper snipper cord! Very frustrating!
  19. Do you guys think this stuff is worth it? I find it like piano wire compared to the mono of equal strength. Mick
  20. Just an update on the berley blocks I made for the pot. Went out off St Kilda yesterday to give them a try on the KGW's. I took out a mates son who has never been out before fishing off a boat. Well, popped the first bomb down and within ten minutes had a school of whiting arrive but were 26-29cm. Was looking very promising but the lad I took out decided he would add to the berley  Poor bugger! So up anchor and back to the ramp I went :c The only issue I have with the berley was that it seemed to disperse too dam quickly, so ill have to change my ingredients around a bit or not proce
  21. Yeah it's worth it. If not just for the nice day out and the sight seeing along the way. Never try to weigh up the profiting side of things when it comes to fishing because ' that whiting you caught with your $50,000 boat was worth every cent'. Ps. Take some kids along... They are great for collecting them
  22. All done and in the freezer. Only made 3 bombs to test if it's all worth it. I'm just wondering how long it will last in the pot now. Better last long enough to attract fish! How do you guys go about it and what consistency do you look for (lumpy or fine?) Mick
  23. Jimmy! You're a legend!!! I'm outa here!!
  24. I had this bright idea to make my own berley today so I could freeze it and have it for the future. My berley pot is a weighted one and I found some PVC that was wide enough and capped the ends to freeze it to shape. This is too easy! Well, now for mixing the shit up... Fish oil, bread crumbs, cat food, old pilchards and anything else I can find around the place to act as a filler was chucked in including weet-bix. Now where is that blender?? Oh shit! Now I'm in trouble. It was thrown out two years ago..so you see my pickle. This is going to be a messy night  just might have to search fo
