  1. Was fishing over west coast and hooked a decent snapper of the beach which had line attached so i started to pull it in and a rod and reel worth shit loads was attached but on the end of that was some dudes skeleton still holding the rod but in his back pocket was a key which opened a post box and in the post box was a photo of this dude holding a snapper but it had line attached and on the end of the line was a rod and reel worth shit loads with some dudes skelet....sorry fellas!!! ;D there was a story on the radio news recently about a fish caught in a lake somewhere which had a wedding ri
  2. Have to disaggree Brooksey been in situations were one lure has outfished other lures being fished at same time and once changing to same lure started to reap rewards. Depends on what fish ya target to how successful u are.Proving a change of lure or bait can mean the difference of success or failure.Of course it comes down to personnal preference and what works for u.
  3. Luke is spot on fish can see, smell and sense through elec. impulse at night especially nocturnal hunters. Water carries all these smells and movements more easilly than air thats why sharks can smell from kms away and whales can pinpoint sounds 100kms away.By adding scent to lures and giving extra movement u can catch fish in pitch black areas, slow down retrieves for better success making sure it bumps into the sand to produce seabed distubance .The rule with colours is dark on overcast and bright on sunny days. The fish will see a dark sillouette against night sky easier than bright colours d
  4. HA!! nice post bennyboy :icon_lol:
  5. Was working down West Lake's not long ago, so decided to have a walk near sth. end of lake to c what was happening, when this old fella walked out onto his top balcony and started chucking decent handfalls of bread into the lake. Being only a few mtrs away, i nearly lost my load !! when suddenly the water erupted in front of me with some of the chunkiest bream i have ever seen and something that left a wake that was way too big to be a bream, that Ive decided too fish it very bloody soon before i go nuts thinking about it!! Got talking to him and its something he has been doin for a while now
  6. Caught this off Pt.Noarlunga jetty while fishing for bream in the shallows using squid tentacle for bait. This fish gave me heaps, only just landing it by running up and down jetty trying to keep it away from the pylons!! Reckon i called it for a decent schoolie a dozen times as in the dark it looked like a jewie so was slightly upset at first until i realised this was a first for me and a thumper at that! Still swimming around for someone else to catch and get that adrenalin rush from these hard fighting fish!!! Sorry about picture quality used camera on mobile phone. http://www.fishyorkepenin
  7. HA!classic......... :icon_lol: To all the "Pimply Faced Scruffy Young Lads" who fish West Lakes. I suggest u carry protection such as a "Baseball Bat" or "Gaff!", and if Brentons new friend grabs it off ya, I suggest ya carry extra thick condoms for backup!!!! :police: Its never the hot rich single chick that tries to get ya pissed, so they can get laid and then kick ya out like a piece of rather satisfied meat!! ??? ??? UNLESS!! that could be another good topic to post"have ya ever SCORED fishing around West Lakes!!" and I don't mean PB's on SP's either!!!
  8. Bloody hell! Was just reading the posts on "west lakes permit" when up popped a pic on the T.V. of a dolphin with fishing line wrapped around its gob on the news!!!! Thats all we need right now!!!!!
  9. If ya in ya yak u can fish anywere ya like, they dont own the water!!No one does!!So if a resident confronts u just keep ya traps shut and keep fishing!Same with pontoons, if trespassing signs are posted ,dont use it, but if it has a public path next to it then just fish it from the bank or ask them if you can use it first.Unfortunatly all of us combined isnt enough to be heard, when in council decisions, their rate paying customers will always come first.Just dont give em a reason to complain in the first place thats all!! P.s. Bring on a realistic priced fi
  10. Great footage fellas enjoyed both 1&2 would love to have seen the horse of a bream landed but not as much as you blokes im guessing
  11. Totally agree, violence isn't the answer and only released fish in frustration after being polite and trying to educate size limits to offenders. Around places like port river, its more the majority in my view who blatantly disregard well known restrictions. The point i raised was the fact that the fisherman who are concerned about future stocks have to resort to such actions and lack of fisheries officers(2 officers is a joke)needs to be addressed. Not being able to catch decent fish is not what makes law abiding fisherman frustrated its the "who gives a shit" attitude shown to the restrictions
  12. Howdy Brooksey the fight lasted around 20mins and caught over west coast, the others i just added were caught over yorkes, as for salt creek i havnt had much luck over there!
  13. didnt have scales to weigh it but estimated 75LB plus http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/fS1iTGms__lgst_silver_ghost.jpg[/img] http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/YlbIifst__firstmulloway.jpg[/img] http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/WpTpeCaH__s046.jpg[/img]
  14. Was checking fishing spots around the Port river recently and was amazed at the amount of undersize bream i noticed in people's buckets, I approached a few of them to c if they were aware of size limits, but this proved to be a frustrating exercise due to the lack of English they spoke so I went back to the car and returned with my tape measure and started measuring their fish to show them what a legal fish looked like. The only response I got was a look of total annoyance and lack of interest, so i gave up trying and proceeded to throw the undersize fish from their bucket back into the river.

    Mooning

Honestly fishing in both has produced mulloway for me and i think ya meant full moon not new for more light. But both phases are best for bigger tides and if ya can get a high around sunset or soon after, the chances are even better still, likewise for sunrise but of cause couple hours before the sun rises is best. For me personally, i like new moon when its pitch black, as thinking about it, mulloway are pretty lazy hunters relying on ambush, and bait fish having the advantage of extra light must make things a little more difficult for big fish like mulloway to stay out of sight, having to rely
  16. yer No.1 for me! Some of the posts have cracked me up but if ya havnt seen the post by cro41 in the west coast section, check it out! its a classic!!! :icon_lol: :icon_lol: sorry croc
  17. Unfortunately this sensless act will just put another bullet in the chamber for the non fishing publics view of recreational fishing, by painting us with the same brush as these so called fisherman!. Kill it! Eat it!. And if the ray, puffer, trumpeter etc.is stuffed, dispose of the carcass appropriately, so the Smith family going for their morning walk along the beach didnt have to find it!, The majority of anglers are avid conservationists, who care for our fisheries future and sensless acts of torture to our marine life in the eyes of the public, definitely doesn't help our fight for unfair ma
  18. Didnt see the article but had some jerk brag to me about netting the onk with his mate a couple weeks ago.Thought he was talking shit, just drunk talk... obviously not!
  19. this is a great rig to give you the confidence of using the fish attracting scent of a pillie on the bottom hook but a longer lasting soft plasic for the top hook in pilchard size and color and letting it drift along the gutter by using a ball singer(not star sinker!)as a weight.you will cover more ground and rebait less frequently knowing the soft plastic is fluttering around like an injured fish which salmon cant resist!bait fisherman will stretch their expensive block of pilchards further meaning more time fishing and more chance of success!you need to follow your rig for this too work, so
  20. would be happy to give u a few tips TL but need to be more specific with ya questions like where ya plan to go fishing what fish you want to target what homework you have done etc just remember alot of the blokes you are asking on this site have fished many hours and learnt the hard way to give you access to years of fishing experience to give you the best chance of catching that fish of a life time so put in the effort out there and enjoy the challenge first and im sure you will enjoy the thrill of catching it all by yourself, sticking to bag limits obeying the rules and respect for your pisca
  21. this tailor weighed just over 7 kilos and was caught on the far west coast
  22. bream are one of those fish that switch on with tide movement, low light, discolored water etc.and if it aint to thier satifaction switch off just as quick and nothing seems to get em going especially in cold winter weather water, try using a larger lure than u would usually use on bream, i use hardcore hb suspended lures which have a rather aggressive wobble and really work the rod tip in short aggresive bursts then let the lure rest for a few seconds then repeat the process all the way in,these lures are deep divers but work well in the deeper sections of the onk ,but u need to work the same ar
  23. yabbys work well in saltwater also bream love em!just have to get over my lure tossing addiction to give em a go again..
