  1. Howdy all,It is our annaul west coast jaunt to Streaky Bay for 5 days commencing this Friday. We drag the 560C Crusher over for a few trips outside to our usual KG spots and have also a crack on the beach for some salmon fun too. However checking the BOM site it looks like there could be some sloppy stuff on the way unfortunately. Can anyone help with any tips fishing in the shelter of Steaky Bay's bay itself even just to get some crabs or squid. Would be a bumma not to get the Crusher wet. Thanks folks.

  2. G'day folks,Don't see many flounder up the top of the Spencer Gulf, but yesterday amongst some great KG fishing I caught a very nice 40cm flounder (my first decent one)I have scaled and cleaned it but would value any tips on how best to cook it up (fillet or leave it whole) Thanks all. :)

  3. Agreed, sad story indeed and is one that unfortunately repeats itself all too often. Rock fishing would have to be one of the more dangerous forms of our sport but really must be conducted with company.I am sure this bloke would of been enjoying the solitude of fishing by himself and having some time out to himself. Problem is when things go wrong there may be no one around to help. RIP cobber.

  4. Local metro jetties will do it if you are patient, I have always had luck as the sun is setting in to the early evening. If you do get to venture to country, some of our great country jetties are just awesome (Elliston, Smoky Bay, and most of the Eyre Peninsula jetties)

  5. Thanks lads, your suggestions have been really helpful. The Surtees and Bar Crusher look very similar and both loaded with great options. Popped the questions last night to the (boss) and it went down quite favourably. You little beauty. Now its time for serious reseach and shopping. See you on the water, cheers!

  6. Well ended up taking my lad out overnight in Whyalla. Was a bit blowy with seas around 1.5m so we sheltered in a bit closer to the light house than we would of liked. Put the rods out and had a cook up of snags, sauce and bread. Apart from 4 annoying Port Jacksons we didnt have any luck and finally got some sleep. However at 5.30am we woke to find the seas had settled a bit so we ventured out to our spot and at 6.20am my son landed his first big red. Ended up a touch over 8 kilo and gave him a great fight. Think I have recruited a future fishing enthusiast. Got to see sunrise over the Flinders Ranges and see that look of excitement that can be described on your kids face when the reel is peeling off. Cheers

  7. G'day lads,Thinking about taking my eldest lad for an overnighter at the rip near Whyalla this Friday. Wind and weather all look favourable (so far) however the tide isnt great. There is only 1 incoming tide for that 24 hours in Whyalla resulting in very slow movement. One bonus will be we can get a decent burley trail and get our rigs down somewhere near our boat (unlike when the tide is ripping and our bait ends up somewhere near Port Augusta)I guess I am asking for advice or experience fishing for snapper on a slow tide. Am I wasting my time?Cheers
