No mate, not as effective as 8. I'm surprised the "Comp" organisers didn't pick you up on it. I normally just enter comps with my recreational long line and a 50 metre net. How did you hear about the comp?

Try putting your baits in side some stocking, and then onto the hook. It's worked for me. The scent gets out, but the lice can't get in!
