  1. Any proven cheaper and older models that work well or are these new models just as good and cost about the same?
  2. Sweet. Thanks for that, southie. I was just about to ask you about the samaki range. I have visited their website but haven't found a price for them online yet. The samaki rods do look really nice.
  3. Bait. I'll stick to bait first before going on lure. Any rod that'll support live baiting. Might also add that I'd like to try for rays. I'm assuming that rods for mullies and snaps work for rays too. Thanks for the suggestions, southie. I'll look up the prices of your suggested combos. Gotta know how much I need to save up.
  4. Hi guys,I'm planning to buy a rod that'll be strong enough for mully and snapper fishing so I'm guessing something around the 2.4m range. Just wondering what combo would you recommend and what price range am I looking at for a decent rod. I am not fussed about the brand, just after a nice rod and reel combo. Not keen on OH's. :pCheers.
  5. 90k gone?? NOO!!! I have to round up my friends and drag them by the scruff of their necks before it's too late. Damn exams..... Making a trip alone is no fun... 5 per car and that'll be it for my cockling adventure. Plenty of bait for a year!!!Closures are definitely worth it as long as they re-open a location. I would always support temporary closure. Something like a marine park, not so much seeing that no fishing is allowed there for a long time if not forever...
  6. I am really tempted to make my first trip to goolwa to collect cockles now.... From the reports, I'd be crazy to miss out on this opportunity. Also, I was fishing at west lakes and saw a group of old folks with rather small 2cm pipis. They were fresh since they were still covered in black sand (black??) out of their bait box. This was back in September. Is there a different kind of shellfish that can be collected during season closure? Just curious because of the black sand the pipis were being kept alive in.
  7. You forgot redfins, mate. Also, the widely available yabbies.
  8. Sounds serious. I'd recommend going to the doc and he'd most probably give you a bout of antibiotics. Definitely go to the doc to check it out.
  9. Your point would be valid had my argument stopped at JUST samboman being the be all end all. My argument extends to the non-existence of evidence of Kingies. You seem to have missed this point of mine. I used Sambo as he is the most experience West Lakes fisho on this forums who has posted about the Kingies so I'd trust him more than speculative talks. At the moment, it's all speculations. There MAY be a Kingy but until SOMEONE, it doesn't have to be Samboman, catches a Kingie, it's highly doubtful that there is one. There're so many fishos out there who frequent West Lakes. You'd think for a
  10. Don't get it with the name calling. If you've fished westies and caught a kingie, that'll disprove the naysayers. What we have here is an experienced West Lake fisho who has caught almost all the species in West Lakes and yet to catch a Kingie. The reason Sambo's saying no is because he hasn't caught a kingie and neither has there been solid proof that someone else has through photo evidence. If he's really such an idiot, why don't the ones who disagree spend the next 1 year fishing west lakes, catch your kingie and show beyond all doubt that kingies exist. I'm with Sambo here.Urhookedfish bro
  11. Tempted but mates are all busy....
  12. Um... What are the dangers handling them because I actually held the catfish by its body for a picture when I took it? Now I am worried. LOL! My first cattie and I didn't know much about them apart from them being protected species.
