Was fishing for a bit at west lakes near west lakes blvd on sat and sun arvo. Managed to catch and release some undersize KG whiting, mullet and bream. Pulled in a few tommies and even live baited a shittie. On Sunday managed to catch and release a 26cm bream.All in all a mixed bag and at least they were biting. What sort of weight are you using with that short rod mate?Only a light snapper weight, so it looks like its casting quite well after a bit of oil

Well gave the Abu a cast on the weekend. After an oil and a bit of tlc it now casts 50-60 m no worrries, just have to improve on my skills a bit

Cheers everyone for the help.Thanks tri hull, would have been handy last night when the panic mode set in Gave it a good test this morning seems like it is good now. The spool is spinning much better after a light oil and everything on it is working correctly. Still yet to test the cast distance but I'll try it out on the weekend.

Stripped it down last night, oiled the worm gear. Pulled it apartment had no idea what I was doing. The thing fell apart and I lost my shit...... But eventually I figured out how to piece it back together. I was thinking that there was sand or dirt inside, all was clean. Oiled the worm drive, haven't tested the casting yet but now when I wind, with the drag backed off, It makes clicking noise. I'm taking it into shop to get a once over, so we'll see what happens.

Like the last one, looks like it was taken from hummocks? What settings did you use to catch the lightning. Tried to get some pics of storms when I was in Bangkok (when thy had all th flooding) but failed dismally.

Maybe the worm gear as it is noisy when casting? Almost like the spo is struggling to spin. Is it easy to disassemble, lubricate and put together again.... I am a tradie

Currently have an Abu Garcia 7000 overhead on a penn sports rod. No issues with birds nests or the rod but just struggling to cast more than 30m with the reel. Am I doing something wrong or is this a normal distance for this reel?Cheers

Got one From got one to give it a try. First pulled it out at brighton (orange and green) and pulled a squid on my second cast. Managed to get two out of my three on the jig, it does work extremely well but you will find it sinks real quick and theres nothing less than 3.5. Other than that they are great, just remember a more realistic prawn style jigging is required (almost sounds like a type of fighting style) I reckon they would go well under a float with a little bit of chop but yet to full try it out.
