  1. Might try and get out tomorrow evening to satisfy the fishing itch.
  2. I have found the 1000 Sienna to be a great little reel but was not impressed with the 2500.
  3. Are these coloured gents still available? I can't remember ever seeing them.
  4. You can even run fluorocarbon straight through, FC Rock and Berkley Vanish are suitable for this....particularly good if fishing unweighted.
  5. Eat them, I assume they would be full of protein. Edit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_meat More protein than chikcen and less that.
  6. Fluorocarbon is meant to be invisible underwater, it is more abarasion reistant than standard mono and has less memory so you feel bites better. Those are the reasons people use it. Is it necessary, 100% no in my opinion, you see the older guys on jetties with buckets full of fish and they are using the same gear 30 years ago. It isn't going to harm your chances though. If you were targetting finicky species such as Bream then I would highly recommend it as they can easily be turned off but a predator species like a Salmon wouldn't worry about using it. I also read that the leader is usual
  7. Have you tried wading at night in your area? In the other gulf I scoop them out of the water at night in less than a foot of water, no need for jigs. Might be something to try, if they come in shallow during the day I would assume they would be there at night.
  8. Don't think I'll be alive for this comp but good luck to the youngin'
  9. 800m out directly in line with the main road of weerona X stick area drifting / anchor doesnt really matter out there you have a reference point. You will likely pick up a few whiting in the sandpatches but size might by iffy
  10. What will be your target species and where will you be fishing.
  11. I blew up a cheapo chinese reel on a stingray yesterday afternoon.
  12. Be careful, go slow. We have only done it a couple of times, you have to weave through the channel which can get very narrow in parts, don't get stuck in there either, a long wait. It actually has silvers all year round but the shitties are everywhere during the warmer months.
  13. well done s_h glad to see you didn't go to the rip in todays conditions lol
  14. You really shouldn't have to venture that far out after this blow.
  15. It is not too heavy, many use handlines with 100lb line. However 20-30lb is more suitable and more fun when using a rod. You do need to use a decent leader though 60lb plus. The knobber snapper are more common around this area and cut up lighter leaders for breakfast.
  16. Yep I knew you are definitely a Pirie fisher when I saw the shitties lol.
  17. It doesn't matter at the moment, they are thick everywhere over weed, in front of the island in about 4m water Ditch that white lure you get with the kit, a metal with either a red or green strip on it is best. Speed, not super fast but a decent speed, distance from the boat, I am no good with this but I would say 20m+
  18. Mine is a quiet as a mouse, I would be taking it back immediately, hopefully you get a staff member with some idea about fishing so they understand what you are saying.
  19. Do you remember their boat and car? next time you see their car in the ramp head off to Weerona with your binoculars and work out where they are
