  1. Hi everyone for all you fishos out there its Robyn here from St Kilda Tackle and Tucker. As I don't see anything on industry news I would like to let you all know that Robert Kelly passed away last Saturday .Robert as you would be aware owned the Dorsal Fin until recently and was an integral part of Adelaide fishing for many years .I have heard many tales from blokes who Robert taught when they were lads and I know this will come as a shock he was a great personality and a well liked bloke.I know the family will feel rewarded by reminiscences of Robert.I know that all of us at Tackle and Tucke

  5. Whilst delivering Gents yesterday Aaron was discussing the end of season Xmas Function and donations from sponsors toward the day , we have donated a crab steamer to which he was delighted and more than a little interested himself and did mention that he has a number of enquiries about these cookers and didn't realise you could get them anymore, so yes we do have them out here at St Kilda and if you don't see one at the Xmas do you know whose house to raid! ;D
  6. Thanks for the positive feedback everyone , we all love what we do out here and do know that money isn't always everything if you can't put your best foot forward for another person then she's a sad old world. ROB.
  7. Human nature is an interesting topic. I don't believe that too many people are that noble when it comes to money that they become self sacrificing matrys.Fact if someone offered any one of us three or four times the amount of money for our product is there any one out there that would say NO!I doubt it . Our cockle resource is in danger and I really think that it is a resource that most people have abused in some way, as a shop next to the water , in years gone by the wastage that I have witnessed with cockles is a disgrace bags and bags just dumped when people had finished using them left to
  8. How will we know who these bad guys are the average fisherman wouldn't have a clue as a matter of afact neither do we how about enligtening us all?
  9. Just to make it clear ringing the fisheries is called doing the right thing not a racial thing , we see this kind of thing quite often and it spans all nationalities some of you would be suprised that the desparation to catch a fish or crab often overrides common sense. COOKIE
  10. Burlz must be on the same wavelength spotted our friends on the way up the B W with foam eskies in tow and rang the fisheries myself to come out and check saw the police arrive but didn't get any feedback , good to know that they finally caught some of these greedy buggers . COOKIE.

  12. One of our customers , who by the way has fishied all his life and still fishes in his 70's told me his secret De tube the worms ptu in a container and thoroughly cover with salt , place in the fridge overnight the next day drain and spread worms out to dry off then pack into tubs and freeze , he reckons this method is better than metho as you don't get that chemical stink.
  13. I don't wish to start a controversy but have to let you all know that we had a visit from Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services on wednesday of this week they are checking all shops to see who is selling these imported cockles they checked our front freezers and also our sacks in the back freezers to make sure that we weren't hiding any imports , they were fairly close lipped on what they are up to but it beggars the question if they are ok then why are they acting on it at all?
  14. Not a hundred percent sure guy in the shop was pretty arrogant the cockles looked ok to me just interesting the price difference some shops called them cockles some pippis.Didn't get to go fishing but did go whale watching on a tour boat it has to rate as one of the most amazing things I've done, the boat took us to see a female humpback and calf nice but pretty tame then the captain says lets go play with the big boys so the boats just idling and the next thing three huge humpback males burst the surface one right next to the boat next to my sister who jumped six foot and didn't know whether
  15. Just a little off the subject , have just had a week off and headed up to Port Macquarie to stay with my sister for a week, who was largely unimpressed by the fact that I was so keen to check out tackle shops and not dress shops cockles 4.40 for what looked like around 3/4 kilo of cockles , same price in all the shops I checked out.Wasn't all that impressed by the shops we have much better here from what I saw. Robyn.

  18. Just wanted to let you all know that at this point in time ST KILDA TACKLE has a good supply of GOOLWA Cockles , the price is not exorbitant. Really came down to which supplier you were with during the season , we weren't going to advertise it too loudly but to the Strike and Hook members we will.
  19. Spoken to Cookie who was up the breakwall last night ,didn't catch anything either but saw a few worms in the water and was pretty sure there were boats out there dabbing. {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif
  20. Ian spoke to our proffessional wormer this morning , asked him about bloodworms , said he dug up an unusual amount of bloodworms yesterday and felt there may have been a small run you are right no onevseemed to be catching much at all yesterday although I haven't spoken to Cookie and co who were fishing last night.

  24. Getting into the cockle debate is a hard one for any Tackle Store. The best I can do is to say that a realistic price for cockles to allow the shops to make a reasonable profit would be around $13-$15 , however individual shops make their own decisions on where they sit , for us at St Kilda we have decided on a price lower than this for our Goolwa cockles , (sorry as a site sponsor I am not allowed to post prices ) when you go into your local tackle store please bear this in mind life is hard enough for the small business owners who have to compete with the large conglomerates who can generally
