Just wondering though...is there an older model and a newer model?
Been looking around at different sites and best price i found is $179 but most of the other sites are $279? go figure?
Just wondering if they are two different rods??SS1002MFS - Length 10ft - 2 Piece - Line Class 12 to 20lb - Cast Weight 3/4 to 3oz = $179
DAIWA SENSOR SURF IZM 102S SPIN ROD = $279
any help much appreciated!

normally ping 30-70gm lures at salmon depending on the swell and wind.
My favourite lure at the moment would have to be 125mm dual adagio -45gm

Daiwa sensor surf is on the radar! thanks benwah!!
Or samki zing surf..
Just have to shop around for the best price! R&A looks like the cheapest so far!

Hiya Guys and Gals,
Just wondering if anyone has an great-good surf rods for sale?
I'm looking for a lure throwing weapon that I can match with a stradic fj 5000 to throw lures at salmon at my local beaches like locks well and talia.I previously had a penn prevail 10ft 6' but the salmon got the better of it!
Anything 10-11ft probably not smaller and defiantly not longer!I'll have to pay the freight as well so add that onto the cost as I live in the country

Snapped my Penn prevail surf rod the other day
At least it was on a fish! probably good 3.5-4kg salmon. They have alot of fight especially in that last little wave!
Pulled a bit of drag and then SNAP!!!! the top half
What made it worse was the schools of salmon coming through the gutter I was fishing!! and watching people left and right pulling in salmon after salmon with a couple of Donkeys!!!so I spat it big time and snapped the bottom half over my leg! sat back and had a beer
Hopefully that's my bad luck gone for a while!

OHHHHH my salmon lures are like my girlfriends shoe collection. But I think I have a few more lures than her shoes (just!)
Couple of my "Go To" lures lately have been
Samaki Flash 35gm - White bait colour or the blue pillie looking one with a size 4 or 5 decoy jigging hook on the back normally gets a solid hook in the corner of the mouth (easy to release) but down on the hookup ratio sometimes I find. (unless casting into a school then you can't miss!)
Caught a few 5kg salmon on these ones lately, winding my reel so fast watching the salmon break the surface trying to inhale them.
With so many different metals on the market I'm liking the Halco outcast 40 or 60gm Although the paint work on it is a bit dodgy it does work a treat when the sea breeze picks up a bit and you can punch out your cast into the wind with not much lose of distance.
Mr IFISH man talked me into Duel Adagio 45gm heavy sinking when I saw him catch salmon on them in WA.
Not the best casting lures in the world as a hard body gets caught in the wind a bit, but I have got my personal best salmon on one of these lures weighing in at 5.8kg.
Pretty pricey and you have to add your own hooks, once again size 4 or 5 decoy jigging hooks aren't that cheap either. So bit of a buggered when you lose this $30 lureOne more that stands out in my lure box is a "barrett" lure from busted fishing, this lure slids up and down your trace line with your treble or single hook down the bottom, and when the salmon jumps out of the water it doesn't take the weight of the lure in it's lips therefore less chance of shaking the hook. These lures have an AWESOME jet bubble stream they produce and salmon can't resist having a look and smashing this lure!!
Raiders, all the different halco's with the hole in the middle of the body, twisties, red head metal lures to large soft plastics all will work! Just chop and change them as you wish to suit the conditions!
Going to throw a few lures this weekend as the weather looks unreal! so maybe I'll try a few new lures within my artillery that haven't ever touched the water!

I've got a penn prevail 10ft 6' with stella 5000 running 20lb line. 40-50gm lures go a fair way! main one, bit of over kill with stella but might as well use the best reel I've got and it makes fishing ALOT easier!
Then my back up is a silstar crystal tip 10ft 6' with stadic fj 5000 20lb line.
Also rate the fin nor lethal 4000 with 15lb line as a good lure throwing weapon.
hopefully get some photos on weekend as weather is turning good after the change we just had!

Thankyou all hope you enjoyed the read!

Not sure if I'm too obsessed with my fishing gear but I do take really good care of them so I can pass down to my next generation.
But I do have names for my babies!
Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem?! surely I'm not the only crazy one on here
Back left is "PENNY" - penn 6500sv LL. still a virgin too but i'll keep trying!
"Liz" the stradic. First fish I caught on it was a lizard (flathead) Poor girl needs to go back to the shimano warehouse under warranty as is a little sick and under 2 yrs old!
"Cedar" the 360 penn slammer. That's my daughters reel she uses all the time, so easy for kids to use and can cop a belting when she drops it more often than not, Cedar is her best friend in town
"Ray" the fin nor, Couple of mate Ryan and Jay organised this fishing reel for me through a good tackle shop so put the names together Also caught a 10kg+ stinga on it the other day! Good fun with 20lb line.
And the one and only "KELLY" Named after my best mates wife who talked me into buying a stella! It's an "investment" he said! Well it bloody better be mate! Merry xmas dyl!
Have got names for the rods they go on too but even I can't remember all the names of them hanging up in my shed!

same sort of thing when soaking squid in kiwi fruit and milk overnight, just makes it a bit more tender. doesn't add flavour
But when eating fresh it shouldn't make too much of a difference
Yep whole ab in the hand and smash againest a rock or cement, once the membrane of the ab is hit it relaxes the mussle.
I normally cut it into thin strips and then bash with a meat mallet, bit of time preparing but hell worth it!
I hardly do anything special to the abs, I don't think can do wrong with lemon flour cooked in butter quickly on the hot plate on the beach only minutes after getting these buggers!
Can't wait for the water to warm up a tad and get amongest them myself!

Tried locks well twice on saturday.
Sunrise x2 GT's (GIANT TOMMIES) pushing 30cm
Sunset bugger all your honour!!
Threw out all different types of lures at least 300 times
still absolutely beautiful down there though!
Too nice for fishing

Bit tight at the top of the ladder! bit harder tipping in the finals
Sorry Sleek for taking over 3rd
Coming for you Brent61 and Scaley tom!!
-
Finals tipping should be interesting!
See if I can do what I did last year and ZZZ into 3rd place to win something!
I'm an eagles fan so now will be going for the tigers since they knocked us out!

maybe running a lighter line to tie your sinker?
that way if it does get caught and the line snaps then you are only losing your sinker instead of the whole setup?

I love cooking whole fish and nanny's would have to be up there with one of the best tasting around!
I like to obviously gut and gill the fish and put a couple of score marks down each side.
Within the guts I make up a fried rice sort of thing-cook this before hand and let cool.
Add whatever into the rice onions, caps, kaffa lime leaves, mushrooms, leek whatever takes your fancy!
Stuff that inside the fishes guts. Few lime or lemon slices on bottom and top of fish and triple wrap in foil.
Cooking time depends on the size of the fish but find 15-20mins each side on the BBQ is good!
or until the rice is nice and warm!
Good added side dish for the fish too!

First Month is done and dusted!
While there was some good weather in between the fronts rolling through not too many fish were weighed in the first month.
Still 2 months to go and plenty of chances to win lots of $$$Elliston Salmon Comp June Results
Congrats to Ryan Llyod who won $1000 thanks to the Bendigo Bank and District Council of Elliston and in running for the $500 bonus for the heaviest overall fish with a very nice salmon caught from Talia weighing in guttered at 4.875kg.
Not far behind and with an extra $500 in his pocket thanks to ECVIC is a regular fisherman throughout the comp is Graeme Martin and his nice specimen of a salmon caught from locks well rocked the scales at 4.840kg
Also in the money this month with $300 more in his pocket thanks to Horse ‘n’ Kart Gardening Services is Andrew Pointon who weighed in a guttered salmon at 4.210kg caught from talia beach again.
These were the only 3 fish weighed in over 4kg so although the weight might be down the numbers of salmon and fisherman are plentiful throughout the 3 months of fishing

Looking for an ulitmate lure throwing weapon -surf rod

Great advice plankton!
Hooked a half decent sambo probably around 4kg and in that last little wave was pulling a bit of drag and the top half went snap in 2 places- around the 2 eyelet up from the bottom section..So really not too sure if I want the same rod again even at half price?! but it was GREAT while it lasted could cast lures up to 60gm (heaviest) all day
But I've caught heaps of salmon on it biggest was around 5.5kg and that was no problem coming in!
True that I do want one of the best lure throwing weapons! might just have to pick up a bit more work as a chef to allow to get something a bit more decent!
So now resorting back to my "back-up" which is a silstar crystal tip! had this rod for about 10yrs and I've killed some good fish on it!
But I'm heading to locks well tomorrow to find these schools of salmon that have been cruising through.
but might need to via past my local fishing shop (150kms) to pick out a new weapon.
Thanks heaps for all the advice fellas!!
