Habanero got a reaction from Hopeless Breamer in Best land based places near Adelaide to get a feed of fish
I have only been to the Onk a couple of time myself, and with little luck, but from what I have seen of other peoples experience it is a great place to get a feed if you get to know the area and go off the beaten track.Have had a fair amount of luck at garden island, at the right time the salmon trout come through and the Jetty can be good for decent bream when they are on the bite, nothing huge but around the 30cm mark.Still looking for a consistently good spot myself, but have recently purchased a Kayak to get further out and onto the fish. See other people having a lot of luck landbased, but it seems to be a case of right place right time for the most part.Any of the metro Jetties are good on the right day, but the fish have a lot of choice with a fair amount of people trying to do the same thing. If you find anything consistent let me know.

I have had more luck in the onk than in west lakes for mulloway....although there are some very very nice fish in westlakes. You need a lot of time for mulloway in general....its a real waiting game iv learnt.Fresh as fk or livebait for the onk....id only use livebait in westlakes .The rest is trial and error and try to work out patterns.....I too spend shit loads on fuel ...its the chase that keep us going.Soft plastics can be productive in the onk also, never tried in lakes.

Habanero got a reaction from afishyfish in Squid at outer harbour??
Haven't tried any of those areas for squid myself, but down that way Brighton - Glenelg is killer for squid, the brighton jetty is good but overfished, so if you can get a couple hundred meters out on the boat you will get heaps, possibly even bag limit.I always use tommies on a jag, plastic jigs up that way have been useless for me unless there is a tommie out on a line aswell and use the plastics to tease them into striking it, but usually i will catch 3 on tommies for every one on plastics.Find a nice weedy area with a sandy patch in the middle and cast there, never fails for me.Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

Habanero got a reaction from urhookedfish in 2 Great Purchases from StrikeHook Members
Just a quick post to say thankyou to UrHookedFish and Crispy for the great deals on wonderful equipment.Very happy with the rod Brett, was able to have a good look and I LOVE It! The quality is amazing and it's incomparable with anything I have ever owned before thanks mate. Only stayed 1hr at Brighton and caught nothing before going to see Crispy, too much noise on the Jetty i think, but did see some snook splash about, wish I had a reel for the venom and my plastics with me lol.Am a also very happy with the fish finders Chris, turned on both units when I got home and like both for different reasons, love the brightness on the humminbird 160 and all the settings and out of the 2 i think its my favourite but cant really judge until I get on the water, the piranhamax 15 is great too, a little less bright and a few less settings but still really nice.Think you are both very friendly guys and it was great meeting you. Thanks again, Matt.
