Top effort Jimbo, will be interesting to see how it all turns out.Sounds like you have done your homework so you should get some good results.What species of fingerlings did you have in mind?

Might be a bit of an over-statement now you say it like that.But you do get a sh@%load of crabs.

I wonder if we will start seeing an increase in great whites around NZ fur seal colonies???Sharks would be the only real predators to those seals.

Really good for catching squid too, or carp strips as bait will get a few different types of fish.We caught heaps of baby carp last summer in yabby nets loaded with dried dog food at our local carp ponds. Killer bait is the old carp.In fact you will catch more crabs with carp than you will yabbies with carp.And they are really smelly!!Steve

Sounds like they might have been fished out Fished Out.Seriously though, the redfin have been a little quiet at times this year.Hope you get back into them on your next trip mate.

Unfortunately us recreational fishos will most likely cop the blame and fire the greenies up even more in regards Marine Parks and No Take Zones.Real shame if it was reccies and it was an accident.

What is your favourite species of fish to catch and why??Freshwater or saltwater, and also what is your preferred method of catching them, bait or lures?I will start it off with bream. I like catching them on bait, and I love the power to weight ratio. They are one of the best looking fish around in my opinion.I also love catching redfin on lure, because redfin fight just like a bream.Cheers,Steve

Crikey, a 10cm mully, they still attack big lures.Jeez they are cute when they are bubs, and some days that seems to be all you get.I really hope to beat my PB mully (only 62cm) this year, and the only way I know I have half a chance is spending as much time on the water (I'm landbased) as possible.At least I can have fun on the bream & STs while waiting for my livie to get smashed.And some good advice...... don't leave your mully rod unattended for too long, they have a habit of stealing rods!!!!!

Just don't try eating Port Jackson sharks.I tried to once on a fishing trip after a few too many brews.I feel sick just thinking about it.Never ever, ever again!

Hey Alex,Mulloway can be an elusive fish at times.Even though I haven't fished the Onk much recently I can tell you that anywhere you fish for them, you need to be persistent.I have almost always caught mullies late in the day or at night time.I haven't caught one on lure yet, but I'm sure someone else can give you the heads up on what will work there.Best of luck in your chase of your first mulloway mate!!

Wasn't a waste of $8 in my opinion.This is the only SA magazine that covers every type of fishing and location that I am interested in.I really appreciate the effort that you guys that contribute to SA Fishing put into it.And I love the Brag Board!!!

These are landbased locations. There is a spot past the windfarms and near the lighthouse that we found is awesome for salmon.Not sure of the name of it, but I think it is called Suicide Point????About a half hour drive on the dirt road round the peninsular you will find a beach that you can scope from the cliff tops. There is a set of wooden stairs leading down to the beach.You can clearly see the salmon schools from up on the cliffs.Nearby to there are some rock ledges that are great fishing, take extreme care when climbing out on the rocks. We have landed small snapper and occasional squid.The Edithburgh town jetty is good for squid and tommies, just be aware that SCUBA divers frequent this jetty at times. Say hello to them and they may share all the snagged lures they find down under the jetty.Check out the local tackle store in Edithburgh, a really top bloke who will be more than happy to give you directions and to tell you what's biting where.Good luck, and I hope this helps.Steve

I would take a Bassman 1/2 oz Spinnerbait, any model in purple and white.Then I would travel round Oz fishing all the best freshwater locations that exist.Really interesting how different the lures are that people are choosing.Good thread,Cheers,Steve

Probably not fishnet stockings, just normal everyday stockings so you can break up the fish pieces and get more of a scent trail happening. The worms grab on, sometimes getting caught up in the fine mesh stocking, making them a little easier to get hold of.Good luck,Steve

Hey Dylbaa, good luck chasing beach worms mate, it can be very rewarding at times, and frustrating at others.I have only tried it a few times so far but have had success at beaches like Tennyson through to Largs Bay.Tried it down the Coorong with same technique and couldn't get any.Just fish frames in an old stocking works for me.Hope this helps,Steve
