James and I finally set off to target mullies. First we were fishing for livies with little sps and bait but all of them were undersized. We kept fishing with sp for st and then the water stopped running. James casted his sp where the water was running and saw a huge silver flash which he thought was a massive salmon but it came back for the lure and fully engulfed it! James Screamed out MULLY! So I started filming.

I believe you Jake, as Booma said, there was a school of kingfish reported. There was even a photo of the school cruising along the edge near the newest bridge. It would be pretty cool if someone landed one in the port but it would be challenging. Im sure someone will catch one eventually.

I've seen pics of mullies caught on blades from the lake. But I would recommend a squidgy sp for mullies. The new paddle tail squidgy looks really good and I have seen more pics with mullies caught on em. Good luck!

As you all know, my new target was snook... First day targeting them, I caught 2!!! We went at sunset and caught 2 squid straight away. After those 2 squid, the bite had gone down. But I started getting a few hits on the little sp so I persisted. I saw some snook rising from the deep and them BANG! I saw a snook hit the lure! I landed it just as it spat the lure on the jetty. Pew... that was lucky :ohmy: MY FIRST EVER SNOOK!!! Later on after the sun had set, I had one massive hit on the sp lure and this was a BIG FISH! It didn't take up much of a fight considering I had locked drag. I man

Cheers everyone, I am a very keen angler We caught em all on live worms. That's the top bait for all species I reckon!

Hit west lakes last weekend with a couple of mates. Straight away we got nice bites on first cast. After a few more casts we hooked one but this didn't feel like a normal fish from the lake. It had heaps of head shakes! We got it up and it was surprisingly a small KGW! When we got it up the other rod went off and it was another KGW! these lil guys were only around 27cm. Then a few more casts, another hookup! This time it was a mullet! Awesome livebait but we kept it for dinner because we didn't have the gear for a mully. Got heaps of bites then another hookup! We too went to tennyson after a flick at west lakes with no luck. The water was surprisingly calm and clear but couldn't see any fish. After about 30mins we had our first hits on the Berkley scum dog which we thought was a yfw! Had a couple more follows but then we saw a shape that looked like a st. But we couldn't really tell and afterwards, they disapeared.

Garfish love chasing fluro coloured lures. At semaphore I was flicking an omg lure which was bright pink and every cast had follows of about 5 garfish. They were just following the lure but not taking it. :pinch:

Ok guys, sp I have thought about it and since surface walkers are considered better, I have just bought this Berkley 3B Scum dog in hooch colour! It looks like a perfect lure with great action in it!

So I've thought about it lately and I think I might have a go at whiting on poppers. This weekend seems killa for whiting. What do you guys think about these poppers? Which ones work best? Tomorrow I am buying the Hooch colour. I hope its a good choice!

Still sounds fun to me! Next week I might try to get some of those st on poppers and surface walkers. Bad luck on the YFW though...
