  1. Hey guys, Is anyone using the relatively new Daiwa saltist hyper rods?? I had a play with one at my local on the weekend and they seem to be well constructed, light and support a very reasonable price of $180. Before I buy one as my snapper rod, would like some feedback... im looking at the following two rods, paired with a daiwa blast 3520 or Seagate hyper 3500, running some good 20-30lb braid.. Not sure which way to go. BJ66XHS Spin 2 198cm Light Regular 60-150g PE 0.6 – 1.5 BJ66XXHS Spin 2 198cm Medium Re
  2. ive caught carp on a dim-sim, and im pretty sure ive got the video of it too!! also the same day, I caught them on chips and piece of butterfish.. all bait was left overs from lunch from the fish n chip store!

    Surf Reels

Thanks for the feedback guys, i bit the bullet and just bought a daiwa sensor surf 13' (10-20kg) paired with a daiwa emblem surf 5500 reel.. waiting on a 600m spool of 50lb sunline super pe braid.. the outfit looks and feels great in the hand, very excited to give it a work out on some mullies, salmon etc.. cheers!!
  4. Its a little out the way but you could try second valley and rapid bay for some squid on the way down there.. if that fails, then can try for some tommies, salmon trout off the beach at 42mile..Id buy some frozen pilchards and squid heads just in case all that fails lol.

    Surf Reels

Well im after a heavy surf rod (around 13ft mark and rated to 10-20kg give or take) as i already have a 10ft uglystick surf rod for (salmon, rock fishing etc). Im just after a kickass heavy surf rod for big sharks and mullies down south. What would you recommend?? I toyed with the idea of getting a custom build sabre, but there just too much $$ for me.. I only go surf fishing 2 or 3 times a year anyway.

    Surf Reels

Hi guys,Im close to purchasing a Daiwa sensor surf, 13ft (10-20kg) for mullies down saltcreek, mouth, etc.. What reel would you choose in the $200-400 bracket?? (i will be running 50lb braid).Im thinking of these; - Penn spinfisher V 10500- Shimano Saragosa 25000sw- Shimano Ultegra Fishing Reel - CI4+ 14000 XTB- Daiwa Seagate Hyper SH6000Any thoughts or better options out there?? Cheers.
  11. Ok really ok no worries, though it was the older series again lol.. I might even just keep it as my "salmon beach reel" .. il go buy another big surf reel for mullies.Whats a good, big, strong surf reel in the $200-400 bracket?? I was thinking daiwa seagate hyper 6000.. Cheers.
  12. Well i ended up getting the itchy twitchy 2 and its awesome!! gave it a massive work out on some carp over the weekend and it held up great.. Super light, great feel, very progressive and the alconite guide rings are silky smooth. Now im thinking of getting another generation black whitting rod (2-5kg)
  13. Thanks for the info mate.. not sure where its made, i took some photos of it this morning (as per below) I have used it once at the mouth and didnt have any problems with the braid ?Cheers
  14. Biggest landed carp so far, touched 1m and estimated 7-8kg!! Enjoy the pics Also i have hooked and been busted off on a bigger one and i know the pool hes lurking in and i wont stop fishing untill i land him.
  15. No worries mate thanks for that! I heard a few people like the old baitrunners as they are made well or something, dont know.I might chuck it up for $100 and see how i go i guess. Thanks
  16. Hi guys,Quick question, i have an old school Shimano 6500 baitrunner in very good condition. Been used 4 or 5 times since my father purchased it a number of years ago. I have just put on brand new 50lb powerpro braid.Question is, what are these reels worth on the second hand market?? and is it something i could move relatively fast ??Any input welcome. Thanks.
  17. No worries, thanks for the feedback guys! I think ill stick to this combo than as it should be good fun in the hills :)Cheers.
  18. Gday guys,I have just placed an order for a 6' 10" Daiwa generation black "itchy twitchy" rod that is rated at 1.5-3kg.. Reel is a daiwa aird 2000 with 6lb braid. Will be used for trout and reddies, with the occasional carp thrown in. whats everyones thoughts on this rod?? or is there better value for the $150-$200 bracket.thanks in advance, alex.
