    Maybe I am naive but I cannot see the harm in taking a photo and measuring the length of one of these in the extremely unlikely scenario that you catch them. There is either very few of them or they are very good at not getting caught, only 4 known sightings in many years so the chances of actually having to make a decision to help or not is probably never going to happen.

    I am no expert, quite the opposite, only caught 1 fish on soft plastics and that was in a bit of a strange way so I have no real advice.I just wish you good luck and hope you get a fish soon. It is great when you get the first one.

    To catch fish. Seems an obvious thing to say but it is simply that for me at the moment. It was not always the case, it used to be a way of doing something with my late grandfather, something we both enjoyed. However now it is to catch fish, obviously I enjoy catching fish, but that is why I am fishing. If I catch fish it is a good trip, if I do not catch fish it is a failure of a trip.

    Loved the footage, especially the catch of the third fish. I know absolutely nothing about catching tuna but it looks like great fun.Well done.

    I am no expert but from looking a photos on the web I am not sure it is a Southern Crested Weedfish, it seems to be too red, while the Southern Crested Weedfish is more yellow. It might be a Yellow Crested Weedfish, with seems to be rather redder than the Southern Cristed Weedfish in the photos.Southern Crested Weedfish.Yellow Crested Weedfish

    I caught my first catfish this morning at Fountain Valley. Quite a decent size fish at 44cm, bigger than any of the carp I have caught from there.Here is a poor photo of the fish.

    I will give it a go in the morning. Will also take the bread as back up which I have been getting heaps of bites on and a few fish.

    New to all this line joining knot tying. How much better are these knots than a double uni knot? Is it really going to matter what knot I use as long as I tie it well?
