malb 62
Excuse the dumb question, but I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of flys or fly fishing. Can you use flys on a spinning reel at all? If so, what would you use and when? (boat, shore etc?) Very broad question I know, but as I said the knowledge base is zero. Thanks. fishnuts 55
Mal it all depends. Some flies can be weighted and be able to be cast on a very light spin out fit. I have never done it but I have tied plenty of flies heavy enough to be cast. You probably wouldn't be able to impart the same action into the fly as you can with a flyrod but it could be done. Hope that answers your question.Cheers Dazz malb

fishnuts 55
Ben where you are fishing for Snapper it would be a very viable proposition, especially with the berley trail going and a nice Squid pattern fly. Bream are great fun from the yak on fly, many a time I have been dragged into a snag by them. They are one fun fish to catch.Good luck.Cheers Dazz
