Sunovabeach 46
Only ever done snooking behind the boat with leaded lines. Am now informed that method is old fashioned and you use beaked lures??. Can someone please inform as to what I should be using in 40 foot of water. How far behind the boat do you use them? Speed the same?

brenton 637
a metal slice works as well as all assortments of bibbed lures.....slow as you can go. cheers b KIDNEY SLAPPER
jackmac 307
When crossing the gulf I always drag a paravane at around 6 to 7 nts with good results, most of that trip is around the fourty to fifty ft mark.Im old fashioned so prefer the paravane but I have tried large deep divers in pilchard patterns with some success.Basicly if its not in that bottom 15 ft they don't seem to get hit,
Knackers 696
Instead of paravanes, leaded lines or bibbed lures I use either a heavy chrome slice or a jig (300 - 500 grams) without the hooks in front of a small lure in deeper water. The jig acts like a decoy pulling in the fish.
Rybak 622
I still use the leaded lines. One with a "snook lure" & the other with a sliver of fish on 3 x ganged hooks. If one doesn't work the other usually does. I do however use bibbed lures when anchored particularly when there are alot of garfish behind the boat. My go to lures are a Yozuri Crystal Minnow 90mm (sinking) & a Duel Aile Magnet 90mm (floating).
