statesquider 0
Yeah I'll never throw a cuttlefish back, always good for a feed. I reckon they are nice but not as tasty as squid. Most people I know wont keep them as they can me hard and messy to clean. I find after a bit of practice it can be totally cleaned in less than 2 minutes.
SandyWhiting 0
Yer we dont throw them back either, squid definitely taste nicer ;DWhen that dish was cooked up I gave a girlfriend of mine a taste , mind you I didn't tell her it was cuttlefish ..She tasted it and said Mmmm yum this is lovely squid..I said to her ummm it aint squid girl its Cuttlefish, well I've never seen her jump up so fast and spit it out lol.. :D Amongst turning green :icon_lol:I think with people its the thought of it.. coonta kinta 1
Sorry SW, gotta disagree. :-[i reckon cuttlefish are better on the chew (or lack of it) than squid. Much more tender as well. ;)But then us wogs will eat almost anything. : :icon_lol:
statesquider 0
I find my cuttlefish to be a bit too tender for me. I've heard a heap of people say its too tough but I find it the exact opposite, I can't get it to toughen up when cooking. I think its because I clean them really well and pull off all the membranes. SandyWhiting 0
Yer thats why I never tried it before hand because people said its too tough,so that's why always try things on your own, after cooking it to soften the flesh i found it softer than squid I read to cook in a ragingly hot pan for 2-3 minutes, or stewed for the better part of two hours. .I reckon grilling would be nice too ;)I also LOVE octopus too.. ;D Did you guys find it sweeter tasting than squid, like a sweet taste to it..??
