Smart 0
Hello,I bought a new rod last night its a Jarvis Walker Ultrapower 6'6" Spin. I was wondering if its a good type of rod, seeing i've never used it before. And also what type of fish could i catch with it?
Softy 2,991
You will need a reel first.....
rocknev 2
dont know the rod off hand, but a lot of people bag jarvis walker... i dont know about the reels, but ive got a jarvis rod in 8ft, and that has been bent over pretty far for 45 minutes pulling a stingray in... and it held up well.. Johnny Rotten 0
thinking that I would've found out what fish are available in my area, then decided what I wanted to target, then bought a rod accordingly.......still,that's just me
reelin 2
What is the kilo rating on the rod? ie 2-4 kg you would mostly be fishing for smaller stuff like bream squid, whiting, salmon trout but it can also handle bigger stuff if you play it right!

Hes only young..He might actually go out thinking he could catch a Blue fin tuna on it...lolSorry bout that Smart. Good to hear your getting back into fishing. If you havent done a lot of fishing then the 6foot6 3-5kilo rod will serve you well and at Grange you should realistically be able to target yellowfin whiting with tube worms in close off any of the metro jetties in summer. Also bream, tommies, gar and you could even use it to catch squid.I hope this helps. If you want any specific advice on how to catch any of those species just send me a pm and will be happy to help.
