  1. 9.5kg (90cm) on a 4'6" Ugly Stik with a Shimano Sedona 1000FD running 6lb mono. Was a very strange hook up that one the fish bit like a timid Kg whiting & then took off like a freight train. Was a great little mini rod & reel went on to catch just about everything until she went over the side. :(

  2. Went out all day Sunday. launched from VH with light NW wind. Found lots of small roaming fast schools not holidng up on the surface long. Not that many birds in the area either. Managed 3 x 20 kg fish in no particular place or order. Still seem to be there but difficult to see without our eyes in the sky. Keep an eye out for pods of dolphins shadowing around the schools. great fun on light tackle!!!!

When seen a big pod of dolphins but no Tuna around from what we could see, where the fish hitting the surface when you seen the dolphins?
  3. The wind was up again... we at least managed to get around to Cape Hart but it was too rough to search out wider for tuna. I reckon your best option would be to launch from Victor and search west of there for the tuna. We saw one school but a huge pod of dolphins went crazy and sent them deep

Should have launched from Victor Fishie, was flat as in the morning & only picked up for a few hours towards KI & then dropped off again. We ended up heading to the pages & trolled from there out to the banks. Total tally for the day was a heap of km's & not even one hit. Did not see a single bird over the 7 hours we where out for.
  4. I'll hopefully have a report back tomorrow night.. I'm planning to launch from Victor and head west to meet up with the passing schools

What time you going to be launching Fishie, thinking about doing a trip down south but not sure if to launch at VH, CJ or Wirrina as a plan B. Need a tag along? Initially was thinking Victor but was unsure on the conditions.
  5. Hey Fishie' date=' IMO it`s been done for the same reasons as the sharking ban, media hype, public beat-up, bowing to pressure in order to be seen to be doing something. Cheers.[/quote']Don't think it has anything to do with any of those reasons beside common sense. Can't see how taking tonnes of Snapper on a daily basis prior too & immediately after the ban is sustainable & doing anything at all to contribute in a positive manner towards the fishery. Aware of one well known charter who witnesses on regular basis the destruction these blokes are doing to the breeding fish. No matter how many babys are around is no good to us if you can't head out a pull a couple of legal fish for the table, wonder how many 10+ kg fish have been pulled this season by members? When some of the Pro's are calling out for a TAC, the markets are being flooded, the upper gulf getting obliterated for numerous years in a row & the amount of spawning fish entering the gulf on a constant decline its telling me something & it ain't positive! ;)
  6. the one at ards hav a flashing light on then so u cant hit it it only at the start off there line the rest off the line is at the bottom lol............. what r the pro doing down this far hav they fish out ards mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

So it would be a real shame if you "accidentally" got this section caught up in your prop & had to cut it off??  Mongrels are cleaning out every single drop in the gulf, feel sorry for the Snapper & the lack of next season.
  7. I use Black Magic KL 1/0's' date=' makes for a beautiful site when whiting fishing with two rods & sitting there watching both rods load up at the same time. Work excellent when the fish are biting really timidly too & a bonus is the hooks never seem to get snagged up either.[/quote'] Was that a Personal Choice TBONE or recommended by Adventure Bound? ;)
Was a bit of both really, was previously using the red No.6 Owner Mutu Light Circles but ran out & for the life of me could not track anymore down locally with ease. The only shop I was getting them from closed up, seen the BM KL's on sale in one particular shop & thought why not. :) Unfortunately they seem to be a hard hook to locate too, went past the shop I got them from the other day actually & the rack was clean.
  8. The lids look like they are just a press on type, wonder how secure & leak proof they would be? I got my Gulps in the Plano sp storage containers. Cheap, leak proof, have a screw on lid & even come with a little pair of tongs to fish out your desired plastic with.http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Plano-Liqua-Bait-Locker-Bottle.aspx?pid=273413#Description

  9. Thanks for that useful info Eco' date='Here in Port Augusta we are enjoying a great time with the squid. Plenty of numbers around before the next slime run.[/quote']I am trying to remember what month it was when I was up there last year as the squid where thin & the snot weed abundant! What months generally is the snot weed usually at its worst in PA Swoopa?
  10. Vote for Hornes as well, after much deliberation & trying out various cheaper brands ended up with a pair of these. No one offered any waist waders versions off the shelf either so went past there wingfield factory & got measured up for a pair. Great friendly people & the price was well worth it. Quality & materials are way better than the cheap brands & as rocknev mentioned the boots are really comfortable too. Other plus is you can pick & choose from 3 different types of boots that you want on your waders.

  11. In regards to some of your other queries, I also have a sensor surf & a couple of Seajiggers. So comparing them all can honestly say the Saltiga Surf is better than both. I would be comparing the longer models more to a cheaper version of a Ballistic Surf than anything else. Has the same adjustable weights in the butt section, same grips & V-Flex Ferrule design to name a few. One of the thing's I love about them is the fact that they are rated to handle a decent amount of lead. I have 2 of the 12' spinning models, one is a 15-30lb (3-6oz) & the other is the 20-40lb (4-7oz) (which seems a bit harder to get a hold of these days). Was chucking out big baits & using a 8oz lead over on the FWC on both without a problem & was out casting the other guys in the group.Cannot remember exact shipping cost but reckon it was something around the $80aus mark, they came shipped in a 6ft cardboard rod tube with USPS, think majority of these rods are only available in 2 piece. I really like mine but have since bought 2 Saltiga Ballistic Surf's from the u.s also, was toying with the idea of selling my two Saltiga Surf's but decided to hang onto them as I would regret letting them go.
