  1. this thread is so good!sitting at home tying traces all night...if anyone's got any other pics chuck em up!
  2. no joke how close do his hands get to its mouth... nutter.theres another clip of him chasing makos. just asking for trouble if he finds a big one haha.
  3. hows this bloke!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mac_CasXIwY&feature=related
  4. ...suss the neoversals then, forgiving as rods come but still light and reasonably crisp. 6-10lb model is the one you want a suss of from memory.
  5. dunno why you would ever have to cast that far, but have a suss of some of the cheaper eggi rods if thats what you're after. or the neoversal's (not sure on spelling), reckon theres a couple at ray and annes still...
  6. http://www.strikehook.com/forum/31-kayak-fishing/146766-port-augusta-kingie-from-the-yakCheers
  7. i know of some stompers hooked coffins way but lost yak side...goals to learn enough about the area to hook one anyway, if i can hook one in my first season i'll be stoked. not expecting to land one.
  8. i cant remember details of the article just remember the pic. photo was in a backyard on the lawn.with the old man tied up with work and looking to be unable to get time off and mates availability not really coinciding with mine i reckon il be stuck yakking it! fingers crossed its legit because its that pic that's made me think its possible...
  9. G'day,Anyone got the link to the pic of the Pt Augusta lad that nailed a 50lb king in his yak last season? I've been trying to find it for ages but haven't been able to.Cheers
  10. haha heard of that happening too, advantage of down rigging i guess. keep them down where they can be eaten. I'll be taking two set ups, one with livey and another rigged ready to throw dead bait if they bust up.as far as free spooling I have found it to work with other fish (bream, snapper etc) but found that more often than not they will still head into the structure, then chill before changing direction and swimming out of it. only problem there is if they have already wrapped you around something and come out the other side (i.e a ledge or chain) then you are buggered anyway. dunno how kin
  11. spewing i just typed out a reply and my computer froze!! cheers to the blokes that have put in the hard yards and taken the time to share what they have learned. brad are you downrigging or ballooning/drifting baits? i hear a lot that 4kg of drag is as a rule of thumb more than enough, that if a big fish wants to head for cover it will get there anyway and that heavier drag just makes them angrier. do any of you guys free spool charging fish or just lock up? there has to be something in that a lot of people still run 24kg+ tackle fishing 8kg plus of strike drag and don't muck around...cheers a
  12. that looks so so dodgy. $259 for a 2010 saltiga?? less than wholesale man would not be giving them my money.edit: just found a stella sw 8000 pg for 50 bucks, steer clear hahaha.
  13. dad used to hold us by the legs and we would stick our heads over the edge when it used to be open. heard of a goat track that zig zags down there and heard of sharkies fishing it but there are so many other good ledges in the park that its not worth risking it to fish there imo.
  14. probably the us version of the sea jigger/sensor surf in lighter and heavier models respectively.
  15. ...the tuff tackles arent a bait runner?Look allright, feel alright, but have seen a lot of hate on other forums and for the money would be going a spheros with carbontex washers for sure.
  16. http://www.strikehook.com/forum/64-buy-sell-swap-or-trade/148531-daiwa-catalinamile better than both, parabolic curve, perfectly matched to a 4500 daiwa (mines on a catalina atm) and will fish 30lb braid till it pops.
  17. there are a bunch of threads on bm from some of the WA guys that hit it up yearly (yatesy, bear etc) and they have heaps of info on what to take tackle wise as well as other things to keep in mind. would be worth having a suss of that.
  18. That's it. They're great, but for the price, the hype, and other gear on the market that's cheaper. They aren't worth it.
  19. ...brought up points from that link to a tackle shop worker that was getting on my nerves trying to pressure my into buying one. Dude straight out denied it, claimed bias motives for it etc and said 'my grandpa said to me daiwa made the best reels, daiwa still made the best reels' etc. Sometimes it pays to be a bit more open minded. The new ones feel great but in my opinion if you want a workhorse for the money get a catalina, and if you can afford to go better get a stella sw. They might not be as cool or have the same amount of marketing hype but they are a better product no doubt.
  20. Just checked their website to order some carobtex for a catalina/saltiga 4500 daiwa (3 stack) and they're out of stock. anyone know where I can get any?Cheers
  21. Wait so thats what the rapala one is sposed to do? Only advantage i can see getting tech with eggying is when you really need a livey and they are hard to find (shacks at augusta for example). Other than that 50lb handline and a jig is the go
  22. Not that I think it would work much better than a normal slow sinking cloth bodied jig, but I'm surprised that with all the money that is being made off this craze at the moment no one has developed a jig that flutters on the drop like a sinking stickbait.
  23. yeah but mullies don't catch themselves!I've found night time luring less productive than daytime in general but you can still catch fish. Mullies obviously nail rubber and hardbaits at night, I've caught heaps of bream at night as well you just have to either with with strongly scented plastics or really loud hardbaits and give them ages to be able to find the lure and eat it.
  24. why would you bicker over the size of a bloody squid. go catch some real fish!its keyboard warrior bullshit like this that keeps decent reports from getting posted.that king is a cracker!
