  1. Most reels i got are fitted with Berkley fireline, never had any issues on any Stradic Ci4,i'm usually fishing twice a week casting hundreds of time with lures and it works fine in 6,8 or 10lb Or Berkley Tracer
  2. Being a stradic their is a big difference between the 1000 to 2500 drag,i have both and i run 8lb and 10lb.But i don't target bream.
  3. I had the SJ4000,one big problem is no spare batteries that fit What had happened is the battery got down to 15mins life before going flat,i found a replacement battery and ordered it and it didn't fit.Was about 1mm too big,so i ordered a few more from different suppliers as they were cheap and same thing 1mm too big.Ended up making a dash cam out of it and running of the cigarette lighter and it worked great. Still got those new spare batteries here and of no use. Picture quality was great as a action cam just a pity about the batteries. I was looking on line last week for another repl
  4. Fish was lost due to deck hand named "moron" I felt how heavy the fish was and started to let off some drag as it didn't move one click,he comes rushing in saying don't do that, the drags are pre set. That's why the fish was lost..What a clown.Had the brains of a peanut.
  5. Noosa Trip The day to depart Adelaide with the flight to leave at 11.00 am and a heavy storm predicted to arrive late morning, with me thinking this is going to be close to take off. Waiting at the terminal we get told there will be a delay for 10 mins for our incoming flight to arrive. Finally we are being backed out onto the tarmac and waiting for 4 incoming flights to land before we can taxi out for take off at 11.20.Now the heavy cloud has arrived and the rain is starting with me thinking common lets go,anyway we take off and as we climb to 100-200m of the ground we get hit with lighting
  6. This is what i like watching in fishing footage
  7. I searched trying to find them here in Oz,nothing so far..
  8. Reminded me of the same action as Linedancer, which i've used and works extremely well THE LINEDANCER FISHING TOOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNmdHCiJZVA
  9. Another reel that i use if i'm standing in the surf with lures is the Wilson Surecatch Stallion.I have the 5000 size and it's been a great reel for the money. Steve at "Lets go fishin" Christies beach has them for $70,you should have a look at one at those prices. Very handy being light for long periods holding your gear http://www.wilsonfishing.com/Products/Reels/Sure-Catch-Reels/Sure-Catch-Stallion
  10. Pike attacks & tries to eat Zombait a real robot
  11. I think people don't realise when it's stated that e.g. maximum line rating 15lb printed on the spool and people load it with 20lb braid which snaps at 30lb.then go fishing for big fish, hook up and use the 10kg drag watching that reel work it's guts out and think what a great reel this is. Then wonder why it didn't last that long
  12. They won't last saltwater fishing, classed as a fresh water reel.
  13. Moisture... A good choice for those spending most of there time beach fishing/lure casting would have to be the Penn SSV or the new Slammer 3. Just a shame they don't come in smaller sizes as i would have one or both
  14. It's called a stripping basket..ebay $32 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/String-Bag-Black-Nylon-Mesh-Stripping-BASKET-for-fly-fishing-rod-line-Net-/351667377856?hash=item51e10256c0:g:hUsAAOSwoBtW1l6p
  15. My Daiwa Caldia 4000 only used for 2 hours would have been perfect for you.Sold it to a interstater last week $200 Just bought a 2500 size earlier model for my beach fishing, you should have a look at those too in 4000
  16. Be heading to Noosa for a week and thinking in going on a charter, options are a river charter or open seas. Anyone done one or both in being able to advise which is better..thanks
  17. "I reckon this may be one of the problems with these smaller reels that have good drags. We fish them too hard." Yes could be very much the case I was thinking about doing a short vid for youtube showing 4 other reels being the same size and the stradic, think of it this way. Whatever reel you got that runs smoothly with standardl noise-now amplify that sound by 4 times and you got the stradic sound.Still runs smoothly,no play in rotor, handle or spool shaft. No grinding sound so it's not bearings.Over 50 years of fishing and over 100 reels (tackle junkie) never heard anything like it befor
  18. bulletproof ...so i thought The other searched forum replies re Ci4+ have scared me off that brand.
  19. Apparently they are all getting the same type of sound best described as a "noisy reel" with the end result being it's wearing out. Some replies were to check the line roller bearing but those reels didn't have line on the roller for that being the issue. I really wanted one of these reels for my flathead lure casting and just disappointed to know that shimano stradics are now a short life reel PS.. if i was so impressed having this Ci4+ i would have spent the money on a new one and had 2 of them, but that's not happening now
  20. Don't do it Just got a used one delivered about a year old, looked as new. Then i turned the handle..what is that noise? Never had anything like that on a 1000 or 4000fg,then i got on forums and i wished i read forum reviews before spending the money. I typed in noisy shimano stradic and shimano grinding sound and many just said they are now junk for the money, they have a short life.I'll get my money back and buy something else and keep away from shimano gear So much for shimano, lots of other brands out there to choose from but for the price of a new stradic..no thanks
  21. I only buy the one's that have no use by date printed on them, they last longer
