  1. I just found a site with a list of their rods. I'm going to buy a 10ft 1-5kg version and an 8ft 2-5kg version, these two editions will be most welcomed to my collection. 8ft will be perfect off rocks and the 10ft will suit me just fine off the beach. Ah now to go shopping
  2. Cheers Andrew,I'm sold! I was not aware at all that ugly stick golds came that long. I have a 6ft one that I love, not a bad rod at all and feel quite good to fish with. Awesome, I'll organise it asap. Exactly what i'm afterCheersTom
  3. Cheers heaps bobC, I've looked everywhere for more info on the reels and I think I really need to go have a look in the shop. Stupidly I didn't realise the TLD30 had the same line capacity as the TLD25, I'm more than happy to get that reel now as its quite a bit cheaper. I couldn't imagine catching a 425lb marlin... The biggest thing i've ever caught is like a 20kg eaglie haha. I've never targeted big fish before but if this reel is the goods I'm sold. Thanks againNow to find a bargain....
  4. I can't get CH31 so I miss all of it. Not fair at all, would love to watch the 4wd show on there too
  5. Not really sure on rod yet I'm buying a kayak soon and thinking of buying one of those Okuma Baidarka Kayak Rods because they float with a reel on it and i'm bound to drop it. I'm thinking it will be a multi-purpose reel so i'll end up getting more than one rod. Will most likely spool with 30lb mono. I will mainly use it on land but when i get the yak i'll hopefully use it a bit there too. Not so often off a boat I suppose. As I've said its still in progress but I'm just trying to work out if the reel would suit the above mentioned fish.
  6. I've been looking around for a while now and I'm looking for an overhead reel for sharks/rays/mullies and kingies. I'm thinking the TLD30 could be a good option... Any thoughts?Cheers Tom
  7. Totally agree with Benny thereIts a female Herring Cale Odax cyanomelas, the males are a similar shape with a dark blue/grey body and 2 electric blue stripes on the tail.
  8. I just looked at how cheap they were... Only around $60? I'm on the market for something better. Will spend up to $130-$150 max but around $100-$120 would suit better, I'm not too keen on graphite as i'm pretty rough on gear. I'll keep lookin
  9. I've got one of the eclipse rods, not a fan at all. But the rod I am looking for will be used quite a bit so i'm not at all fussed to spend the cash. I'll check out the catana you mentioned and see what I think. Thanks heaps for your responses everyone.
  10. Sad to hear, my thoughts go out to their families.
  11. Ah but now to locate your elusive spot within casting distance of land... .boat. Awesome effort though, love my squid and that truly is a monster :laugh:Have you eaten yours yet? I found mine to be quite tough compared to the smaller one I caught as I was cleaning and cutting it up. It felt a lot more like cuttlefish flesh, i'll find out when I cook it as to whether its tougher or not. I'd kill to bag out on squid, best i've managed is 12. Heaps of food and filled the freezer with bait and berley bits
  12. Well done on the squid there crocka79, monster! Well that makes mine look like crap :-\ but here it is. Was 33cm and weighed just over 900gm, bit of a non event now but I'm still stoked with it ;D http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/wZgHYnlt__P5110250.JPG[/img]
  13. I love the idea of that vest Ranger but I don't like to carry that much gear with me when I'm fishing now. As I'm sure we've all been guilty of at some point I used to bring everything i owned until it dawned on me I only used 2% of it. Now I use my blowfish camelbak and a canvas type shoulder bag for bait and fish. Its certainly a cool looking vest though I'm glad I don't have the money to blow on gear like I used to or I'd probably buy it ;D
  14. I'm looking at buying myself a more practical rod for light fishing off of rocks and light surf fishing. My current favourite outfit (which is by no means special) is a 6ft 2-5kg Silstar powertip rod with a Okuma avenger ABF30 reel thats spooled with 8lb mono. Now I love this setup as it is incredibly light and I can cast all day without any fatigue whatsoever. When I first started fishing I had no idea and didn't have a dad that wanted much to do with me so I sort of made it all up myself as I went along. My first reel had 30lb mono on it and surprisingly enough I didn't catch much for the fir
  15. I now have squid!!! Making it tomorrow or the day after!
  16. I caught my personal best squid today 33cm. Absolutely stoked I'll post up the photo tomorrow
  17. ASS fishing, I love it. It exudes quality
  18. That would be a funny addition to a bag .boat.
  19. I cant believe I bought mine that's a fantastic idea. So simple and so so cheap. I have a metal one at the moment that i don't really like because it doesn't hold in soft sand well, but it works quite well in harder sandy beaches that are rocky. I also have a store bought plastic rod holder that I'm not a huge fan of as its useless on a rocky beach because the plastic breaks easily and its not very well built. The way you have made your is a lot better than store bought plastic ones. I especially like the way you flattened off the top, makes for a very useful item. Cool idea to use a beer bot
  20. I need more squid so i can make it :'( that recipe sounds absolutely awesome! My mouth is salivating at just the thought of it! Drool!
