  1. Wouldnt belive it, i was just wrapping some bait and a little column in the newspaper i was using caught my eye........Mud Cockle Quota is in place as of this week. No Specifics. Good news is there back on the table!Bad news is PIRSA couldnt give me this info! Oh well it always depends who you talk to there...and their website is useless.Yak
  2. Commercial managment issues i reckon Ranger. I dont think they wanted to have the same probs as the Goolwa fishery. From what i have heard the concern is about the Port Lincoln fishery.Oh and I reckon ur right on the money about the 300 Goolwas, Ive been hearing whispers for a couple months now...I'll post up about the muddys as soon as i find out when we can buy em again, go great with Parsley, Garlic, Lemon and White Wine! Mmmmmmmm.
  3. HA!!! :icon_lol: :icon_lol:BTW Ian ya got a Jap Model there, Aussie Saltigas Are RED! (probably come with jap manuals to tho!)It should serve ya well and ya wont need a translation....
  4. Sorry to be the bearer; but the Commercial Mud Cockle Fishery is Currently Closed and is under review! It was closed a couple of months ago, and was supposed to be sorded by mid October, yet i have heard nothing and ive been looking. Hopefully this will be resolved in the comming days... I love mud cockles, Yum!BTW You can still take 300 mud cockles yourself!Yak.
  5. Glad to see ya like it Lazy! Its looks schmick with that blue line on! Now ya got to christen it
  6. I think regardless of people doing the wrong thing; Being ALLOWED to Keep 10 Bream Is too Many!
  7. good stuff LL.ps. Who cares about other sites ;)jj
  8. Exactly Dude, But as always The Advertiser is not interested in the Facts! They just poach stories from the Net, and all over the world. Oh well i suppose it raised some awareness, but an interview with you would have been way better!
  9. I dont know if The Advertiser got its info from here or another forum, but they should do some JOURNALISM; they should ask some questions and find out the real story. 'Walkers' found the net??? Calling Illegal Netters fishermen??? Not broaching the Social or Economic Implications??? Not digging to find out why Responsible fishers have no confidence in FISHERIES and thats why they do thing their own way???These are the issues, but once again The Advertiser missed the key points and just gave A particular description of events. Prefering not to confuse the prescious heads of thier readership.I d
  10. nice fish there coight. looks like ya found a sweet spot!
  11. Some Good info there Ranger :)if people want they can keep 10 per day. BUT I WOULD NEVER KEEP a 40cm Fish from the Port for really good 2 reasons 1) It would be FULL OF Heavy Metals and other nasties, which unless ya planning on having a GOOD BLEED with be with ya FOR LIFE! (thus shortening it)2. Its a big breader for that system.I would not think twice about eating one this size from the Coorong; thats a different kettle of fish! and those fish taste way better.Like ranger said not too sure if the post is genuine, anyhow thats a pretty average recipe, I can think of atleas 10 better ways to
  12. Spot on benny. I reckon ya get a cap of ya troubles! But is worth the call, so they can collect info on this pest!
  13. I got a tip for ya young fella. When ya dad organises a fishing trip, get up early, have breakfast and BE READY!!!Ya old man will put ya onto a fish no worries! (might take a trip or 2 ) but it will happen!Good luck Terra and remember UP EARLY!"The early bird catches the worm!"
  14. yep theyre gonna leave it there!, I reckon it will be great, drifitng baits toward the old jetty piles!Imagine the trevors and kings!!Brings back memories.....
  15. Its a tricky one fellas, but if ya use a uni or smileys knot, ya might be able to double over the braid before tying, this will make it thicker and reduce the tension on any one particular point on the mono. Its a bit tricky to tie, but if ya lay it flat it should tie up ok. Just a thought....
  16. Great report for a fishless session. I know those frustrations all too well! Trout flying in the hills is the same, perfect scenery, perfect fish, horrible backcast! ;)Keep at it!
  17. Great NEWS!!! Cant wait till its done!! Might never be a good as the old one, but is a fantastic project in a state where things like this are few and far between. BRING ON THE NEW YEAR!!!
  18. Well I was close ;D I thought so too!! but yull neva win ;)Oh well, opinions of this nature might be morally valid, BUT if you catch a bream and release it quickly unharmed you have committed no crime and broken no law as it stands. There are more fish in there than just Bream and big mulloway, there are Salmon Trout, Many Mullet, Flathead, and a host of others, so suggesting no small hooks or bait is unreasonable and that fishers who do so are somehow morally deficient is outrageous, most are simple family people. If fisheries thought it necessary to ban fishing then that is what they'll do.
  19. haha! Kings, its easy to get squid wrong, either got to cook it for 3mins or 1 hour, anything in between and its rubber! Like Ninja said, when it curls its done! My fav recipie for squid was taught by my nonna from naples and it involves cooking it in tomatos for 2 hours. If ya lucky i might post it up, but its a family secret, we like to blow friends away with it (if they're lucky!).
  20. Swamp I know they're big but I know Bruce "salty" and I dont doubt it for a second. Bream like that are there every year. AArrons dad even catches them on gents!
