  1. Howdy all, I was talking to the bloke in a local tackle shop today and he mentioned that a 150 cockle quota was going thru' legislation at the moment for reccos'. Has anyone else heard of this and can verify?
  2. I'm just after a bit of advice on the Pages in Backstairs Passage.... ie are there any dangerous Bommies etc that I need to be aware of close to the Pages group
  3. Howdy all, a few of the snapper I've been catching lately have been full of roe... is there a way of determining if a snapper is a female in roe as I'd prefer to release them unharmed rather than get them home and gut them only to find they have roe. Obviously a fish with a larger than normal stomach size perhaps could be in roe but there's also the chance it just had a decent feed
  4. I'm more fearful of the ramp rage over the silly season :icon_e_surprised:

    Storm Coming,,,

That was a strange storm that passed thru'.... it was a long thin line that ran from the top of the Gulf to the bottom of the Gulf, it was like a line squall but there was no wind at surface level, all the wind was up in the sky as it passed thru really quickly :icon_e_surprised:
  6. I stand but sorta half sit on the edge of my bucket seat... a bit of both that makes for a comfy ride .boat.
  7. That's sick... It's not just Fishwatch we can call but if we see this sorta thing maybe we should take pics and car rego details if possible and contact the RSPCA at our earliest convenience (not aimed at you personaly Burlz.. just a passing comment in hindsight )
  8. http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/comments/0,22638,24750036-2682,00.htmlThat's appalling :thumb:.... the readers comments are well founded >:(10.30 am... It must've been smoko time or something
  9. I agree with you Highfly also... added to that, I'm not a great fan of catch and release and prefer to do so only in shallow water ... when fishing the deeper grounds I only fish to take them home for consumption. It's all legal and whatever you wish to do in the confines of legality whether it be bag out and take them all home or catch and release and not take anything home... it's a free country and we all are entitled to make our own individual decision
  10. :icon_lol: :icon_lol:Nice one.... I might try the same soon when I get myself a drogue :icon_lol: :icon_lol: ;D
  11. I'm always in awe of Great White's. I love seeing them cruise around my boat. They're so graceful but on the otherhand you give them the respect they deserve cos you know they are the king of our local waters.... I'm not real keen on getting munched up by one tho'
  12. I would've infringed the copyright by copying and pasting so here's the link to copyright info on the net http://www.copyright.com.au/info%20sheets/PA20_copyright%20and%20the%20internet.pdf
  13. We used to get them on the pub reef at Penneshaw when I was a kid..... used to bash the cr@p out of them till they resembled a wet rag and then fried them in the pan. Geez, in those days we even used to get periwinkles off the rocks and boil them up and pick out the meat with a pin also. I've got no memory of how any of that stuff tasted Burlz... that's a good link
  14. Howdy Crocka are there any big slimies on the blocks yet.... I'm hangin' out to get some close to home to make sushi
  15. There must be a few biggies around... I had a Great White take a snapper the other week when I was fishing out down the bottom end of St Vinnies Gulf, that one was bout 15 ft long and 3 to 4 feet across the head. My camera was still initialising as it came past for second look so I missed out on a pic
  16. Howdy Yakfisho, you should also be able to pick up some whopping big snook along the way to Baudin Beach (Geez! when I grew up there it was called American Beach and spog I never had to dive for scallops you just walked out up to your knees with a bucket and collected as many as you wanted) You'll enjoy yourself over there
  17. I was only half listening to the 5pm news on the radio but I think some bloke got busted by the RSPCA for poisoning some rats... WTF
  18. They're not bad but I reckon you can't go past a plate of sambo patties drizzled with fresh lemon juice
  19. Salmon are such a versatile fish in the kitchen.... anyone that says different needs a good de-karmatising :ofresh fillets dipped in flour and fried in buttersalmon mornaysalmon and horseradish pies made in large muffin trays......mix up flaked salmon and mashed spuds and stir in bucketloads of horseradish. get some pampas pie pastry and form in the muffin trays chuck in the filling and top the pies with more pastry and cook.very tasty eaten cold as a snack whilst fishing for more sambos' :icon_e_ugeek:
  20. They're a magnificent looking creature aren't they
  21. What yer need is one of these bewdies I dunno the brand but apparently they are the best on the market :o :o :icon_e_surprised: :icon_lol:
  22. "so i guess a few of ya better start walking..."Bugger that! ..... I might get mugged ;)I don't really see it as others giving you blokes a "lecture"... maybe there might be just a slim chance that we all care a great deal about our fellow fisho mates and offer a bit of "safe" advice anyway. After all it happens in every generation. I copped a bagging from my old man on snapper opening last year after the closure when I took him and his mate out to the Glenelg Tyre Reef. It was blowing 20 knots and there were only 2 other boats out that evening from West Beach. We launched and it then blew
