  1. Kayaker lives to tell of harbour shark attack http://www.canoe.org.au/?page=3326&format=http://www.fska.org/tooth.htmhttp://www.thewest.com.au/default.aspx?MenuID=28&ContentID=43553
  2. Looks like the usual camera trick to me..... hold the fish out with an outstretched arm so it is closer to the camera than you are so the fish looks bigger. If he was holding the fish close in front of him his left elbow would be bent and not straight
  3. Yep! that's the scary part :icon_e_surprised: :icon_e_surprised:Those of you who know me from other sites probably remember my news clippings and story I posted about my uncle and his mate that disappeared out on Clarries back in the sixties. The Police found their 15 ft bondwood boat still at anchor, turned upside down with their snapper lines still tied to the gunwales and a big split in the bottom of the boat. The police never found the bodies so it was never reported as a shark attack but they believe it was, as all the evidence was there.Go out and have a crack, if it wasn't for the
  4. I'm afraid I gotta agree also Thahn, snapper and sharks always go together. But having said that, in the Bay at Antechamber Bay on KI would be a great spot but I reckon you'd end up being something elses brekky or dinner and part of the foodchain considering you'd be fishing at dawn or dusk and also sharks there often feed off the schools of salmon and mullet that move through there :icon_e_surprised:
  5. What's the best colour for snapper... I'm heading out snapper fishing on saturday and might try one if I can get to the local tackle shop before I go
  6. If the Local companies are happy to pay top fees to exhibit their wares at the local Boatshow why should we deny them and not visit the show. It's their choice to be there and market to the masses on the day. If they didn't think it was worthwhile surely they wouldn't bother.

That's the mix I use to catch mullet except I use any can with seafood in it.... I use it in my berley spring sinker and also on the hooks, it works a treatMy mate who always does well on the whiting uses tinned cat food for berley and swears by the one with aspic in it
  8. I went to Whitworth's Adelaide Boatshow 15% discount off all items sale at their premises at Pt Adelaide and saved a bundle on my Hydrive sportsman hyd steering ... paid $585 and walked away a happy chappy and a lot of other lined up at the cash register with EPIRBs under their arms (must've picked them up at a good price also)Mate went down to Adelaide Shores Marine today and took a Stabicraft for a drive..... seems they had their own show on down at the Ramp also
  9. Had a mate go yesterday and he said there weren't many nic nacs for sale like previous years where you could grab a bargain :'( mainly just boats on show
  10. "Is banning all commercial fishing realistic?"Put simply, No! ... if someone can make a dollar out of something from the sea, there will always be commercial fishingIf only I could find a market for sea lice... I'd be rich :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_e_surprised: :icon_idea:"What is the most important thing that can be done about the whole issue?"I have no idea personally, but quotas' are always a good start. Snapper and whiting numbers have increased locally off the metro coast in the past couple of years but I wouldn't want to see anymore quota reduction put on recco fisherman. As for c
  11. You shouldn't refer to AGD66 as just AGD as this will create more problems as there is also AGD84
  12. Howdy Adon, very nice fish you must be proud capturing one that size
  13. Probably standardise beer glasses next..... a schooner in NSW is the eqiv of our pint. I wonder how many interstaters come here and have a chuckle when they ask for a schooner and get a small glass of beer ???A pint is a pint and should be that erveywhere ;D
  14. Nope! I just remembered...... it used to be called a red snapper. I bought a couple a few years back at Raptis on Port Road and baked one in the oven. I didn't like it :icon_e_surprised:
  15. There's no name change for a snapper... A Bight Redfish is a nannygai or that other fish that looks similar which I can't remember just at the moment http://www.frdc.com.au/species.php?f=100&v=f
  16. Then there's alway's the ever reliable "blind mullet" that frequents most Sth Aussie Waters ... I wonder what the boffins will rename that to :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_e_surprised:
